Participants must be between the ages of 16-24 who are currently not working or not in school. must have legal permission to work and must live in Community Districts 1,3,4,5 and 12 which include: Astoria, Long Island City, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Flushing and Jamaica.

YAIP is a city-funded short term employment program targeting low income job-ready youth. They may earn permanent employment with a good evaluation.
YAIP interns complete three weeks of orientation prior to starting the internship and can earn up to $2500 in weeks. Interns work 11 weeks for a total of 20 hours per week and participate in workshops 5 hours a week and receive $7.25 an hour. After the internship participants will: Prepare for College Admission, Enter Occupational Skills Training or Earn a GED Diploma.
Upon completion of the internship, participants will receive nine months of follow-up services and help in permanent job placement and training programs, or educational advancement.
Financial Literacy, Healthy Living, Work Readiness, Career Development, Leadership Development, Academis/Technology Readiness and Business Etiquette are some of the workshops offered.
After the internship participants will: Prepare for College Admission, Enter Occupational Skills Training or Earn a GED Diploma. YAIP interns also receive Job Counseling, Work Readines Training to the National Work Readiness Credential, and participate in Service Learning Projects
