‪On October 9th, 2020, it was a momentous day for UMLA and the UMLA brothers, as it was the celebration for the decade that UMLA has been part of the Baruch community. It was a celebration that couldn’t have happened without the contribution of the 10th-anniversary committee and the many brothers along the way. We thank all of you who have come to the Zoom event or watch it in the youtube Livestream. The link to the Livestream is right below, for your viewing pleasure. For these next weeks, we’re gonna show the full videos of the amazing UMLA brothers who participated in the 10th-anniversary video. Cristian Hernadez is a high achieving sophomore, UMLA member and Director of Membership for NABA Baruch.

In Cristian's first-year, he participated in leadership programs with the Big 4 firms and Banks, serving as a learning experience and ultimately gave him a clear picture of what he could pursue in the future. This past summer, he joined Deloitte as a Pioneer Intern and worked at a start-up company called Elivade, which connects underrepresented students to mentors. In the current fall semester, he joined America Needs You as a 2020 Fellow and Centerbridge Partners as a CUNY Investment Industry Fellow.

NABA welcomed him with open arms during his first-semester at Baruch. He hopes to pay it forward in his current role as the Director of Membership. He also aspires to one day work in the start-up space due to his entrepreneurial spirit growing up!

The Percy E. Sutton Urban Male Leadership Academy (UMLA) Scholars Program is more than a program, is a brotherhood! A brotherhood that empowered and push a young group of men of color through their academic and professional career through professional development, rigorous academic support, and a brotherhood community. In honor of UMLA’s 10 years in Baruch College and continuing impact, we are hosting the UMLA 10th ANNIVERSARY!!!!

The UMLA 10th Anniversary is gonna be hosted on ZOOM on October 9th, 2020 6pm. Please join us in celebrating the 10 years UMLA has been impacted many men of color through talking with our panelist and celebrating the accomplishments of many of our UMLA brothers! Props to the 2020 UMLA cohort who are navigating through thick and thin in their first month in Baruch and driving to succeed in their first year at Baruch College.

Although the outlets of discussions have changed, the purpose and dialogues have not. Much has changed in the last couple of months, but one thing remains the same: the strength of the brotherhood, which was clearly shown on 7/31/2020. This cohort and the past 9 cohorts show that the brotherhood continues to strive.

We welcome and congratulate the 2020 Cohort for their commitment to the Baruch, SEEK, and UMLA family!
