What you see on social media is not necessarily a true reflection of how the person is feeling at that moment or in real life.

I love posing, I love creating content, I love photography. When I take pictures, I often times channel my inner diva…

But this doesn’t mean that I’m always confident, bold, or feeling fierce!

The truth is - I love being at home in my pajamas and I don’t pose like this in real life lol

The truth is - I’m insecure about my body.

The truth is - I struggle with mental health every day.

When you’re a business owner you have a lot going on all of the time 🥴

I was constantly feeling overwhelmed with all of the things going on in my work and personal life! Through that feeling, I learned that one of my biggest problems was that I didn’t have my core boundaries set. 

Me being me, I wanted to respond to my emails fast and make sure that I was available all of the time - even after work hours. What I learned is that being “fast” is not sustainable, and working “fast” or “hard” doesn’t mean you are being smart about your work. 

Here’s the difference… 

An entrepreneur spends most of their time working on the growth of their business and making things better for their clients and team and a freelancer spends most of their time serving their clients 🤯

The first step to becoming an entrepreneur is setting boundaries within yourself ✔️

So before you go any further, ask yourself these questions ⬇️

1. How many hours can I realistically dedicate to my business daily?

2. What do I want to do with the hours that I have available?

3. Can I save time on tasks that I’m doing by creating a more efficient work flow?

4. Should I really be doing these tasks? Or can I outsource them to contractors? 

And then set those boundaries!!! 🙌🏼

Still can’t believe this is real life.

I visioned my future...

& made it happen ✔️

When I graduated from UCLA 10 years ago, I started my career with a $28k yearly salary chained to an office.

My rent budget was $400... so I shared a room and slept on the floor my first year out of college.

I worked and worked, slowly earning a higher salary...

But it was never enough to have my own room OR my own place. It was tough at times to pay my bills.

I moved to New York with a dream in mind...

I visioned the city view - floor to ceiling windows - luxury building - my own privacy - my place 😍

I worked and worked, persevered through the highs and lows...

I launched my biz, doubled my income ✔️

Can’t believe we’re here.

Looking back on 2020… What a whirlwind!

It started out busy… 

Influencer events in January with clients…

NYFW in February...

Chris and I attended a wedding in New Orleans…

Early March, I flew to LA for a brand shoot w/ one of my clients... 

Then everything changed!

NYC shut down two weeks later, we fled the city, now we’re living on the opposite side of the country… in the country! 

And what did I do for the rest of the year? I WORKED. (too much)

If you’re a workaholic like me, then staying in has maybe made you work even more this year, which has made me learn a lot about myself! 

Here’s what I learned from 2020 as a workaholic business owner:

1️⃣ Your health should be #1 

If you don’t have your health, then none of the work you’re doing matters. What’s the point of working like a dog if you’re not feeling good or happy at the end of the day? I didn’t have my health on check this year and neither did I feel happy about the work I was doing

2️⃣ You can’t build a biz without boundaries 

Going from freelancer to CEO is a huge difference in day to day life. Esp if you are like me and like to respond to emails quickly. Here’s the thing… you can’t always respond quickly, or hop on projects quickly... Why? Because all you’re doing is being reactive, and you need to be PROACTIVE to build a company. As a business owner, you need to spend 80% of your time visioning and planning for your future. You can’t do that if you don’t have boundaries w/ yourself! 

3️⃣ Take a breath! It’s not the ER!  

You know sometimes how you think your projects are the most important things in the world? Or that the world’s going to end if you don’t respond to an email by the end of the day? Well guess what… it’s really not that big of a deal! Unless you’re in the emergency room, you gotta chill! 

With that said, here’s to more growth and change in 2021 🎉

Seeing your feed filled with competitors posting the deals that you want?

Wondering why/how/when your competitors are getting noticed by brands??

Struggling to figure out how to make it happen for you?

Try these 3 powerful tips to get your dream brands to notice you on Instagram…

1️⃣ Make Instagram your Influencer resume

What’s the first thing a brand looks at when you reach out to them? Your social media page, of course! 

Brands will go straight to your profiles (especially IG) to see how you’ve promoted products in the past. They want to use what you’ve done to envision how their product might fit into your future integrations with their products.

PRO TIP:  If you haven’t worked with brands in the past and you want to, start sharing about the products you use in your everyday life. Take pictures with the products and/or include them in your video content. 

2️⃣ Tag your posts like you already have a deal

One of the most common ways that influencers get discovered by brands is because they already use their products and tag the brand in their posts. They include the products they use in their posts and this captures the brand’s attention.

Lots of influencers think they shouldn’t post about a brand because they need to get paid for it. 

Guess what? That’s not true! Especially when you’re looking for the perfect partnership for your business! 

REMEMBER THIS: A lot of the best brand partnerships come from organic beginnings!

3️⃣ Hashtag smarter

Check the hashtags that your dream brands are using and use those hashtags in your posts/stories to get them to notice you. 

Don’t know how to find the hashtags the brand is using? Go to the brand’s IG page and click “following,” then click “hashtags” at the top of the list… BOOM! 🤯

Be consistent with these hashtags. Don’t use them once and expect a deal...

Show up at the top of their hashtag search with valuable content consistently and it’s a DONE DEAL! 👏🏼
