It is well accepted by virtually everyone that today—we live in a society where corruption and dishonesty is rampant, where voices of morality and ethics are overshadowed by voices of injustice and oppression. To prevent this disintegration and decay of societal principles and ideals Qur’an Academy for Young Scholars QAFYS (an Islamic institution located in Brooklyn, New York, second branch is loc
ated in Parkchester, New York) embarked on an ambitious mission in September, 2019 to overcome these societal obstacles by not only graduating individuals, but training and shaping them into becoming influential and successful leaders and scholars in both deen and dunya. QAFYS hopes to instill in the minds of these young enthusiastic learners uncompromising values such as the need to be in constant search of excellence. From the very beginning, they are taught to prioritize cleanliness and punctuality. Despite an overwhelmingly male populated student body, the facilities maintained by the institution are fitting for both male and female students while simultaneously maintaining healthy and adequate distance between the genders. Here at QAFYS, the students are trained to be role models in society. QAFYS hopes to graduate the students with qualities that are unmatched. By the time they graduate, the students will display outstanding adab and akhlaq. They will have exceedingly excellent recitation and hifz, an expertise in Qur’anic Arabic. They will have a strong grasp of tafseer, hadith, seerah and fiqh. In addition, the students will have in-depth knowledge of Islamic, American and world history. The systemic training will offer an authentic and balances understanding of wholesome Islam. They will participate in recreational activities that have been proven to improve one’s lifestyle such as self-defense and physical fitness, coding, culinary arts etc. They will become effective public speakers, writers, problem solvers and become a leading agent of peace and social justice in American society as a whole. Each student from this Academy will graduate with high school diplomas with excellent grades in English, Math, Science and Social Studies. They will have ijazah in Hafs ‘an ‘asim and a certificate marking the completion of ‘Alim course. By the time they graduate, QAFYS specialized training will have them well equipped for college and higher education anywhere in the world even for PhDs in their chosen fields.
