Hearing feedback like this reaffirms why I’m so passionate about this work.

This is what it’s all about—finding that balance between pushing for growth and meeting educators where they are, grounding our efforts in research and best practices, and supporting the emotional challenges that come with doing this important work.

I’m deeply grateful for his trust and partnership. Together, we’re creating more equitable, resilient environments where all voices are heard, valued, and empowered.

If you’re ready to bring this kind of transformation to your own school community, I invite you to join the Anti-Racist Action Academy. Let’s equip your team with the tools and guidance they need to lead anti-racist initiatives with confidence, clarity, and compassion.

The first week of January always feels like standing at the start of a fresh path—everything is possible, and the direction we choose now sets the tone for what follows. ✨

But let’s keep it real: the work we do, especially when it comes to equity and anti-racism, isn’t defined by a single date on the calendar.

It’s shaped by the steady, intentional choices we make every day. Yes, the new year can spark new energy and commitment, but true progress lies in how we consistently show up.

This week, I’m reminding myself—and encouraging you—to focus on the steps we take, not just the goals we set.

Let’s break big visions into achievable actions and lean into honest reflection when we fall short. Let’s lean on each other for support and celebrate every bit of growth along the way.

No matter how daunting the challenges, we have the power to guide our schools toward greater equity and understanding, one conversation, one lesson, one decision at a time. As January unfolds, may we move forward with clarity, courage, and a willingness to learn.

Here’s to making this month, and every one after, matter. 💪🏾

If you’re ready to deepen your capacity for this work, I invite you to consider the Anti-Racist Action Academy. This two-day virtual experience equips school leaders with the tools to design and deliver equity-focused professional development from within their own communities. It’s about building sustainable change, not just for a week or a month, but for the long run.

Let’s make this month, and every one after, truly matter.

Have you ever felt the weight of unspoken words pressing heavily on your heart? I know I have.

For so many of us—especially Black women—we've been conditioned to suppress our true feelings to avoid being labeled as "angry" or "emotional."

But holding in those feelings doesn't make them disappear. Instead, they can manifest as stress, anxiety, and even physical health issues. It's time we acknowledge that our feelings are valid and that expressing them is a form of strength, not weakness. 🖤

I remember moments when I chose silence over speaking my truth, thinking it was the ""professional"" thing to do. But I've learned that voicing our experiences is essential—not just for our well-being but for fostering genuine connections and understanding.

By confronting our inner negative feelings and embracing open dialogue, we not only heal ourselves but also pave the way for others to do the same. This is especially important in our schools and workplaces, where suppressed emotions can hinder growth and collaboration.

This brings me to something I'm deeply passionate about: The Anti-Racist Action Academy. 🌟

In this program, we're creating a space where:

👉🏾 Authentic Conversations are encouraged. We tackle tough topics head-on, acknowledging the emotional labor that comes with them.
👉🏾 Empowerment is key. We equip leaders with the tools to not only address their own suppressed feelings but also to support others in doing the same.
👉🏾 Healing and Growth go hand in hand. By addressing our inner barriers, we become more effective change-makers in our communities.

If you're a school leader ready to break the cycle of suppression and foster an environment where everyone's voice is heard and valued, I invite you to join us.

Let's transform our schools into spaces of authenticity, healing, and empowerment. Our well-being and that of our students depend on it. 💪🏾

As the final hours of this year slip away, I find myself reflecting on the challenges we’ve faced, the progress we’ve made, and the incredible resilience we’ve shown—both individually and collectively. ✨

This past year was far from simple.

We confronted barriers, navigated shifts in our classrooms and communities, and grappled with the constant push and pull between where we are and where we dream of going.

Yet through it all, we persisted. We learned. We grew. And we did it together.

As we stand on the threshold of a new year, let’s carry forward the lessons and insights we’ve gained.

My hope is that as the clock strikes midnight, we enter this next chapter with renewed purpose, unshakeable courage, and a deepened compassion for ourselves and those we serve.

Wishing you a New Year filled with growth, connection, and unwavering hope.

2025 is just a few days away—a fresh start, a new chapter in our collective story. 🌟 As I look ahead, I'm choosing to set intentions that truly resonate with my values and aspirations.

Instead of resolutions that may fade, I'm focusing on intentions that guide my actions and mindset throughout the year. For me, this means:

👉🏾 Leading with Compassion—placing empathy at the forefront of all my interactions. I want to listen more deeply, understand more fully, and respond with kindness in every situation.

👉🏾 Championing Equity—continuing the fight for justice and equal opportunities in education. This is not a one-time effort but an ongoing commitment to dismantling systemic barriers and uplifting marginalized voices.

👉🏾 Fostering Growth—embracing challenges as opportunities to learn and evolve. I believe that stepping out of our comfort zones is where true growth happens, both personally and professionally.

In alignment with these intentions, I created The Anti-Racist Action Academy.

This two-day virtual experience is designed for school leaders who are ready to turn these intentions into actionable steps toward creating anti-racist schools.

Together, we'll:

✔️ Dive Deep into WBGL's proven 5-step process for fostering equity and inclusivity.
✔️ Equip Ourselves with practical tools to design and deliver equity-focused professional development tailored to our schools' unique needs.
✔️ Build Community with like-minded leaders committed to making a lasting impact.

If your intentions for 2025 include leading with compassion, championing equity, and fostering growth, I invite you to join us on this transformative journey. Let's step into the new year with purpose, passion, and a collective commitment to positive change.

Habari Gani!

As we begin celebrating Kwanzaa today, December 26th, let's embrace the rich traditions and reflect on the values that strengthen our communities and uplift our spirits. 🕯️

The Nguzo Saba, or Seven Principles, offer profound guidance:

1️⃣ Umoja (Unity): Striving for togetherness in our communities.

2️⃣ Kujichagulia (Self-Determination): Defining ourselves and speaking for ourselves.

3️⃣ Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility): Building and maintaining our community together.

4️⃣ Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics): Supporting each other's businesses and initiatives.

5️⃣ Nia (Purpose): Committing to the collective vocation of restoring our community.

6️⃣ Kuumba (Creativity): Doing all we can to leave our community more beautiful.

7️⃣ Imani (Faith): Believing in our people, teachers, and the righteousness of our struggle.

These principles aren't just for Kwanzaa—they're a roadmap for building stronger, more resilient communities all year long. Let's reflect on how we can incorporate them into our lives and work. ✨

Wishing you a meaningful and joyous Kwanzaa! ❤️

When I look at the challenges schools and districts face, one problem stands out: relying on outside consultants to drive anti-racist initiatives can quickly strain budgets.

While outside expertise is valuable, it isn’t sustainable to keep outsourcing indefinitely.

That’s where the Anti-Racist Action Academy comes in. Instead of continually searching for outside help, this program equips the leaders on your own team with the skills to create lasting change from within.

👉🏾 By building capacity in-house, districts save money, gain time, and foster a long-term, deeply rooted commitment to equity.

In this academy, you’ll learn not just to understand race dynamics but how to teach these concepts to your staff—helping them genuinely internalize the lessons. You’ll gain strategies to manage the complex emotions that come with this work and guide your team to meaningful, sustained progress.

With the current political climate making it harder to keep equity at the forefront, it’s more crucial than ever to safeguard these efforts in our schools.

The Anti-Racism Action Academy ensures your district’s leaders are prepared to lead tough conversations, navigate challenges, and maintain focus on building schools where every student thrives.
