Do you talk to your children while you are changing their diapers or while bathing them?🛁

Did you know that young children are able to absorb great amounts of information simply by living in their environment? When it comes to learning language, parents are the link between the child and the environment. 👶🏻

Start by telling them about your day. Talk to them all day about everything you do together, using descriptive words and asking questions. This is how they’ll start talking. 👏🏻

Here are some of the things you can say-

“This jacket will keep you warm and snug today. I see blue mittens in your pocket.” 🧥
Or
“Doesn’t the blanket feel soft? I’ll sing you a lullaby to help you fall asleep.”

This will enable you to have a vocabulary building conversation with your child. 🗣️

Did you already celebrated your child's first birthday??

I will never forget how excited I was for the occasion. I thought about every small detail. The location, the catering, the activities, the branding... There was only one thing I didn't consider -THE GIFTS.

As much as I appreciated everyone's thoughts and effort, I felt how, on the same day, I said goodbye to my beautiful living room, as it officially turned into a Gymboree.

I was always the shortest person in the room. Anyone here can relate?

I was pretty disappointed to find out I would never become a flight attendant.
And to this day, I'm avoiding live concerts as people are standing to see the show and looking at their armpits. Doesn't sound like a big deal right? Wrong.

Being the shortest created conversations that were going on above my head, literally. I always felt the need to wear high heels and match my height so that I could look into people's eyes.

Now, imagine your children...

They see everything from a fairly low point of view, and we tend to talk to them from our perspective- which is much higher.

We do it when we tell them we love them and when we're asking them to stop doing something.

When we're angry, it makes them feel threatened.

Can you think about a situation like this? Being mad and raising your voice.

Now try to be straight forward and say- would you be yelling if you would have stepped down and looked at your little one's eyes?

Eye contact is directly linked to our emotions and has an effect on human behavior, based on research from Tufts University.

The research involved a unique dynamic. A coin was placed in a phone booth, and the participants were required to face people claiming the coin belong to them. Researchers found that people how made eye contact while asking for the coin were more likely to receive it. And avoiding eye contact led to keeping the coin to themselves.

They conducted that making eye contact also encouraged honesty, and by looking into a person's eyes, the participants leaned towards give the coin back to its "original" owner.

Making eye contact with our children is one of the best gifts we can give each other. By doing so, we're creating trust and strengthing our bond with them. Our body releases oxytocin (the love hormone) and brings us closer together.

Looking at children's eyes has the utmost importance.

This week seek an opportunity to talk to you little one and making eye contact. Step down, make it easy for them to look you straight in the eye. Try it when you're upset.

weight, gender or religion. They just want to feel love and make others feel it too. It’s our responsibility to educate our little ones to stick with love, as hate is too great of a burden.Let’s help them make friends from all colors and shapes so that in a couple of decades from today they won’t have to walk the streets reminding people that someone’s life matters.
