Kids had fun yesterday Sunday, April 26, 2026 with their parents at our annual Spring Carnival enjoying BBQ, Magic & Bubble show, face painting and cotton candy. We also invited some of our community partners Mercy Center, DCAS- Public Service Corps and League of Women Voters & internal partners CUNY EDGE and Career Services to share information on the services they have available to our parenting students.
We want to thank our Hostos Peace Officers for supporting this event.

Broker Fees Are Now Illegal in NYC: The FARE Act
This week’s update comes from the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit.
The Fairness in Apartment Rental Expenses (FARE) Act took effect on June 11, 2025. This law prohibits brokers who represent landlords from charging broker fees to tenants. This includes brokers who publish listings with the landlord’s permission. Landlords or their agents must disclose other fees that the tenant must pay in their listings and rental agreements.
