Code;Spice is a non-profit 501(3)(c) tax exempt organization that seeks to teach kids of all ages how to code using Python. Code;Spice is co-founded by Xiang Meng and Somrishi Banerjee, both are Science & Engineering Magnet Program juniors studying in Manalapan High School. We are also Columbia University Science Honors Program (SHP) students. We love coding and spreading our knowledge, and have already had many hours of teaching experience. We are very proficient in Python and a few other languages as well (eg. C++).
We have already completed one session of the Code;Spice program over the summer for about 15 students. So far, we have been able to solidify the foundations of Python in all of our students (four students) over the course of 10 python classes during the summer. We have also taught most of them a more efficient coding mindset when solving problems.
However, we would like to amplify our impact with your help! Instead of 10 students, that number could be 100, 1000, or even more! We are planning to extend our services to other countries like China, India and Singapore, etc. If needed, we will be hiring local high schoolers as instructors who know the language better to expand the free coding training service to benefit other countries, especially developing countries.
