While the Sun transits Cancer (the sign of emotional intelligence), we have the full Buck Moon in Capricorn (the sign of hard work & discipline). The spiritual “antlers” that we sprouted in springtime, collectively, have achieved maturity.

Today, 13th July at 11.38am ET, the Moon will be full at 21 degrees, 21’ Capricorn; this is a SuperMoon, as the Moon will be especially close to the Earth at this point (approximately 220K miles!)

The current opposition between Sun and Moon highlights the tension between adult goals/duties our need for play, childlike wonder + lightheartedness. Check where Capricorn & Cancer fall in your chart for a more precise understanding of this lunation’s impact.

There’s opportunity now in breaking free of old attachments & burdens, and creating a new legacy that honors our innocence, and our aspirations.

the SuperMoon is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn…Pluto, which rules Scorpio, is the planet of death + transformation, and it’s asking us to confront secrets, death, and our sub-conscious workings. A secret or uncomfortable truth comes to the fore now, demanding that we acknowledge and resolve anything that we’ve been ignoring.

Meanwhile, Mercury in sweet Cancer sextiles Uranus in Ta**us…which means that we’ll be open to risk-taking and playful experimentation; but it’s more about changing up the program rather than tearing it up. The Earth trine between the Capricorn Moon, Uranus and the North Node in Ta**us brings a pleasant grounding force into our lives now.

Additionally, Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces, suggesting that our fantasies of love may not match the reality unfolding before us. Allow some extra time to digest all the revelations brought by the Full Moon conjunct Pluto.

We may need to recalibrate, building a new vision of the future, utilizing Capricorn’s steely determination despite the hurdles we encounter.

Today is “Guru Purnima”, a day when hardcore yogis commemorate Paramahansa Yogananda, who is credited with first bringing the philosophy and meditation practices of yoga to the West.

Paramahansa Yogananda was, incidentally, a Capricorn, born 05 January 1893 in Uttar Pradesh, India…so it makes perfect sense to celebrate him today, during the Capricorn Full Moon.🐐♑️🌑

Yogananda was the first major Indian teacher to settle in America, and the first prominent Indian to be hosted in the White House, by President Calvin Coolidge, in 1927. He popularized Kriya yoga and meditation as a self-study and self-realization practice.

Yogananda’s book “Autobiography of a Yogi” is considered one of the top spiritual books of the 20th Century…it tells how Paramahansa’s guru prepared him spiritually for the unheard-of mission of bringing yogic teachings to the West, at a time when this was largely unfathomable. Yogananda spread the teachings by describing how Western materialism and acquisitiveness could be balanced with Indian spirituality in daily life. Although Christianity in its purest sense maintains many of the same ideals, we in the West have perhaps let some of the essential concepts become tarnished by more worldly concerns.

Steve Jobs, Apple’s founder and CEO, felt Yogananda’s teachings had had such a profound influence on his own life & personal development, that he ordered copies of Yogananda’s book to be distributed at his own memorial. 🍎🖥🤓

I highly recommend picking up a copy of “Autobiography of a Yogi”, and giving it a read…see if it facilitates your own journey & sense of joy in life. 🙏🏻🧘🏻‍♀️🕉

The Sun is in Aries, the Moon is in Cancer…the mind and the heart are at odds. But this can push us to greater purpose, because the friction thus caused forces us to challenge ourselves. *We don’t want to be lazy, complacent or self-satisfied.*

There’s a French saying, « se remettre en question » it means to check yourself, examine those assumptions, see if the thought processes are sound. That’s what square aspects help us to do.

Since the Moon is in Cancer ♋️, we are inclined to go within, to put on our protective shell so that others cannot hurt our tender hearts. The Cancer Moon squares Chiron in Aries, reminding us of old relationship wounds & trauma. Don’t go so far into your shell that you deny yourself a chance to live fully. Mercury, the planet of communication, travel & technology, is the nearest planet to the Sun, has the shortest period of revolution around the Sun, and the highest average orbital speed. It’s quick!

Named for the messenger god of the Romans, in astrology, Mercury rules Gemini ♊️ and Virgo♍️ , two signs that are particularly adept with marketing & communication. These are Mutable signs, they shift easily.

Over the next few days, Mercury (currently in impulsive Aries), will be making some interesting moves.

Yesterday Mercury sextiled Saturn, and although Saturn is the great taskmaster of the zodiac, the pairing of energies between communicating Aries style, will be well-matched to the visionary approach that Saturn assumes while it transits humanitarian Aquarius. HPBD to another brilliant Aries…filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, born 06 April 1939 in Detroit MI. Aries ♈️ Sun, Capricorn ♑️ rising, Scorpio ♏️ Moon.

Director of such classics as The Godfather (trilogy), The Outsiders, Rumblefish, Apocalypse Now, One from the Heart, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Peggy Sue Got Married, Youth without Youth. Screenwriter of the original screen adaptation of The Great Gatsby, and so many others. Too many to name here.

His films are exciting and engaging, but most of all - they have a deeply spiritual probing element (hello, Scorpio ♏️ Moon!). 🦂Because of that, Coppola’s films become classics and relevant throughout the generations. He deals in universal themes like family, betrayal, the human will.

Coppola is know for his unrelenting work ethic. Incisive - driven- uncovering mystery: that’s what we get when Aries + Scorpio energy are joined in the natal chart.

As if Monday vibes weren’t bad enough, today’s planetary weather adds plenty of turbulence to the mix. 🌪🌪🌪

Mercury squares Jupiter this morning, making us less loving in our judgments —we may even go so far as to misspeak or make a passionate pronouncement about someone that we come to regret...so try to keep your mouth shut, just for today, OK?🤐👺🙊

You see, Jupiter is a HUGE planet that magnifies everything- so when it’s square another planet, it could mean that we make a mistake in a MAJOR way. (Hey, go big or go home, right? But with this transit, it looks like we’ll be doing both!)😳

Next we have a square between the Sun in Ta**us and Saturn in Aquarius. Ta**us wants things to stay the same, reliable, comfortable- whereas Aquarius wants to show individuality, buck the trends, and shock the establishment⚡️...this conflict implies that we feel thwarted by what’s expected of us (convention).
The Moon’s stay in rebellious Aquarius makes us feel these limitations with added power. 💥💥💥

Amplifying the above, we have the Last Quarter Moon 🌙 in Aquarius square to the Sun ☀️ in Ta**us. Yes it feels like those Last Quarter Moons come around quite often, doesn’t it!?! 💆🏻‍♀️Since airy Aquarius is somewhat detached from emotion, it might be challenging to express our angst in healthy ways. The other side of this is getting lost in dreams and not assessing situations realistically. Make a list, write down pro’s and con’s. When Pisces energy (illusion) is strong, we can solve the problem by leaning into Virgo methods (precision, concrete evidence, facts).

That’s what my acting teacher, the great Bill Esper, used to tell us, his actors, during our intensive acting classes during his 2-year program. I’m remembering Bill today, and the wisdom of these words, which were originally spoken by Bill’s teacher, Sanford Meisner. We gain so much when we surrender.

So much of our life is spent pushing to prove our point, to push our agenda, to convince of others to go our way, admire us, like us.

But what would happen if we were to truly let go, and give up, give in, and give way?

Today’s Ta**us Moon allows us to yield to sensuality, to enjoy all the things our body can do, and to appreciate ourselves, just as we are. Nobody - and no “body” is perfect. How would it change things if you just experienced gratitude and pleasure, right now, without always wishing for something different, better, more? Although we want to work for our goals, sometimes we get so narrow-minded, we forget to smell the roses. And life is short.
