Today, we spotlight one of our students, Kyle.

Kyle is an INCREDIBLE hockey player and recently made a travel team that is competing throughout the country!!

Kyle has been a student at Tommy's Friends for almost 2 years now. We learned early on that Kyle is a man that loves his hockey. A couple of months ago, our owners, Melissa and Jennifer knew that they had to see Kyle in action on the ice.

Back in January, Melissa and Jennifer had the opportunity to support Kyle at one of his hockey games. Kyle is a member of the Long Island Rough Riders, an awesome hockey league that is open to all abilities.

Melissa and Jenn learned very early on why Kyle got the nickname, "The Wall." Nobody could get past Kyle!!!!!!
Kyle defended his goal with precision and strength.
Seeing Kyle slide across the ice with such a mission and such purpose, we could not be prouder.

What we saw on the ice; was exactly what we see from Kyle everyday that he walks through the doors of Tommy's Friends. Kyle shows up everyday; he works hard, he pushes himself out of his comfort zone and he literally gives it everything that he's got. What incredible qualities to possess.

Kyle, we are so incredibly proud to say that you are apart of the Tommy's Friends Family. Your big smile and kind heart are just some of the reasons that make you so incredible. We know that this is only the beginning for you. We cant wait to see what is next!!

Today we spotlight one of our students,
Gordon.

Gordon is a Special Olympics Gold Medal Winner!!!!!

A few years back Gordon got interested in swimming. Slowly, he began to love it more & more and he began weekly session at the pool to strengthen his body and improve his skills. It was not long before Gordon became more proficient in the strokes that he was learning & wanted to challenge himself even more. This is when Gordon decided to start competing in the New York State Special Olympics.

During the past couple of years Gordon has competed & won multiple gold, silver & bronze metals.

Gordon's incredible work ethic, positive attitude, tenacity and go getter mentality; are just some of the reasons why we love having Gordon as a student at Tommy's Friends.

Gordon's love for the sport has been such a joy for his teachers & classmates to observe.

Gordon, we are so proud of you & all of your accomplishments!!!! We can't wait to see what's you do next!

Today we spotlight one of our students, Brandon.

Brandon is incredible with animatronics! This Halloween Brandon worked tirelessly to create a beautifully gruesome Halloween Display for his community at his home. In the past Brandon has worked at Halloween stores & specifically hired to assemble all of the displays. He has such a talent 😁

Brandon is a gifted young man whom always gives 100% in our classes at Tommy's Friends; and we are so proud to see that his hard work has translated into the community.

Great job Brandon, we are so proud of you!

One thing about the owners of Tommy's Friends; Jenn & Melissa, if one of their students has a performance of any kind; they will do everything that they can, to be there to support them.

Jenn & Melissa attended a former student's gig last week, and they were blown away by their students talents.

At Tommy's Friends we say that we are family; and we mean it. We are so proud of all of our students accomplishments in & out of the classroom; and we will always be there to cheer them on! ❤️❤️

We have been working so hard over the past month; that we almost forgot to post all of the amazing things we have been accomplishing! Whether it is our community classes or our transition program, our students are thriving !!😁

We are LOVING our new building at Tommy's Friends!! It has been such a joy to watch our students enjoy the full functioning kitchen, full apartment, tons of classrooms to learn in & worksite classrooms to strengthen their vocational skills. It has been so wonderful tonsew our full 5,500 sq.ft building to be fulles to the brims with studens, working hard to reach their goals!

We are so exited to see where this year takes our students; time to crush some goals! 💪

Victoria teaches our Year 1 Transition Program at Tommy's Friends and her enthusiasm and dedication to her students is evident the minute you meet her.

We were honored to be included in the Elijah Foundations: Transition to Adulthood Event today. We are so proud of what we have created at Tommy's Friends and it is such a joy to share it with the community.

Tommy's Friends LLC B.E.S.T. Program is a 2-Year vocational transition program for young adults. We offer curriculum-based coursework each semester, hands-on vocational training, a deep dive into professionalism, and being a good co-worker!
