Be honest—if it was your first day back in the school building today, how were you really feeling behind that mask?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Were you grinning from ear to ear, so ready to be back?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or maybe you were putting on a happy face but you weren’t quite ready to return (you are allowed, after all, you are human too!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you feel like you picked up right where you left off or was it hard to get back in the swing of things?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We know it takes our students a little bit of time to get back into the routine of things—and that can be true for us as teachers as well. Break may have left you feeling foggy about your various log ins or about exactly where you left off in your last lesson.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You may have felt even more off your game if your first day back to school was technically still happening from home. If you still need help figuring out those teach from home routines, be sure to grab your free workbook (link in bio 👆🏻)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As for me, I went into the day feeling a little anxious, but it didn’t take long before a great discussion about Fahrenheit 451 with my first period class had a smile back on my face!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How was your first day back?

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From sharing selected words of the year to New Year’s resolutions, it seems like everyone is fully ready to embrace all that 2021 has to offer 🥳
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And you might be even more eager for that fresh start if you felt like work from home/teach from home left you—well—a little less productive than you would have liked.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But even though the new year is officially here, in some ways, it feels like not much has changed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So how do we actually implement that change we so desperately want to see? 🤷🏻♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Setting ourselves up for success is just like setting our classrooms up for success; it is all about putting in place the right routines
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While there isn’t a magic, one size fits all routine that I can tell you about, there is a handy dandy free workbook I’ve designed to help you determine the routines that will work best for you while you work & teach from home 👩🏻💻🏡

Like everyone else, I had no idea what 2020 would bring.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But for me, the pandemic was only part of the equation. Something else I didn’t know would happen was that I would be transitioning as a teacherpreneur from a partnership to being a .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If I’m being honest, this was so unexpected—and so intimidating—that I simply put it off. I just wasn’t sure. I wanted to know exactly what to do, exactly the next “right” step to take.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I still don’t have the big picture fully realized—but now I’m ready to start!
Here is to that fresh start we are all looking for right now!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What have you been putting off that you are ready to start this year?
01/02/2021
But trust yourself, and know that it will all eventually come together
01/02/2021
Sometimes we are too close, and having that distance and that perspective is what is needed, hard is it might be to trust that in the moment
01/02/2021
As we say hello to 2021, do you find yourself wishing you knew exactly what it will bring?
01/02/2021
Would you take things little by little?
01/02/2021
Wouldn’t it have been great if at the start of the year, we could see the complete picture? Even if it was pretty, even if it wasn’t perfect?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Would your lessons be different or how you use that free time if you just knew what was ahead?

Boo! 👻
If you are in The Total Teacher Spot, you already know that I was Paprika for our Spice Girls group costume at school.
But I’m gonna be honest—I preferred my non-school Halloween attire!
If you also had a wardrobe change, which outfit did you prefer, your school Halloween garb or what you wore sometime after the bell rang Friday afternoon?

Hey friends - Nicole here, signing in to sign off as Edverything Education makes a big transformation ↔️
I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from Edverything. I recently made a career shift into education technology, where I will be focusing my energy moving forward.
I have gotten so much joy from interacting with all of you - our podcast listeners & guests, and summit speakers & attendees - over the years. Having the opportunity to work with one of my closest friends has made this experience all the more special.
Thank you to all of you out there who have been along for this journey, and thank you to my forever Danielle. Realizing our shared vision for teacher PD has been extremely rewarding, to say the very least. ♥️
Stay tuned for what’s to come as Danielle continues with Edverything! 💫
