The young MC Juiccy E, est. 1970 and young DJ Kendo, est. 1975 tribute to Original FlyGirls (1976) from JHS 72 Queens
In September 1976, Queens Hip Hop Legend, DJ Kendo, est. 1975 and I were freshmans at the Catherine & Count Basie School (JHS 72 Queens), by Spring semester 1978 Kendo was "cutting it up" on the Wheels of Steel at the Spring Prom; and I was rocking the microphone as the young 12-year-old MC Juiccy E, est. 1970.
(Attached photograph of Professor King and DJ Kendo captured by: )
Seeing DJ Kendo last summer in August 2021 at the Jamaica Playground in South Jamaica Houses (40 Projects) during GMV/Queens Day reminded me that he still enjoys DJing, MCing, breakbeats and the entire movement and culture of SouthSide Jamaica, Queens Hip Hop just as much as I do.
When I rock the microphone and DJ Kendo rocks "Dance to the Drummer's Beat" and "Love is the Message," it will be to pay homage and show honor and respect to our former Junior High School classmates and Original FlyGirls: Kim Stalworth, Keshia Brown, Lisa Angel Ray, Juliette White, Michelle Minton, Dee-Dee Johnson, Darlene Parks (RIP) and Monique "Mo-Mo" Thomas (RIP).
Though I am Professor Eva Marie King today, I will always rock the mic as my alter-ego the young MC Juiccy E, est. 1970 who received props from OGs back in 1977 as a bonafided MC on these SouthSide Jamaica, Queens, New York City streets.

On this episode I discuss "The Birth of Black Hip Hop Comedy Promoters" in New York City. Non-Stop Entertainment was founded by Diane Gibbs and Lisa Angel Ray in the early 1990s and is credited with launching the first Comedy showcase for Black Comedians.
Diane and Lisa, created a platform for aspiring Comedians to perform at The Proper Café in Cambria Heights, Queens. An array of comics would show up for "Tuesday Night Comedy" vying for a chance to perform including: Tracy Morgan , Yvette Wilson (RIP) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yvette_Wilson, Wanda Sykes , Capone , Mike Epps , JB Smoove , Talent , Bill Bellamy , Drew Fraser , Rob Stapleton , and countless others.
As I continue to write the true history of Queens Hip Hop, I had to recognize Diane Gibbs and Lisa Angel Ray of Non Stop Entertainment for being visionaries of Black Comedy Promotion in the Hip Hop Community.
