We’re excited to announce that Nick Martinez, a longtime member of the Harlem Gallery of Science community and curator of Video Games: The Great Connector, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of HGS, effective September 14, 2026.

Nick has been part of HGS since 2022, helping shape and expand The Great Connector and its mission to help young people recognize how their interests and everyday skills can open doors to opportunities in STEM, digital media, and beyond. As CEO, he will build on that work while leading HGS into its next phase of growth.

We’re proud to spotlight David Gruber, member of the Board of Directors at the Harlem Gallery of Science, for his groundbreaking work with Project CETI and the recent global recognition of its s***m whale research.

Published in the journals Science and Scientific Reports, the study includes one of the most detailed observations of a s***m whale birth in the wild, revealing extraordinary social behavior and caregiving among female whales. The research has been featured by major global outlets including The New York Times, National Geographic, Reuters, CNN, and the Associated Press.

🎮 IT’S BACK: Video Games: The Great Connector returns to CCNY!

We’re reopening the doors for an immersive, hands-on exhibition exploring video games, storytelling, and STEAM learning.

⏳ Group registration closes in 24 hours (Friday, April 24 at noon!)
📅 Exhibition runs April 27–May 1
📍 City College of New York, Harlem

Middle & high school groups can experience interactive stations, game design features, and more. Public walk-in hours are also available each afternoon from 4–6 PM.
