What a year it has been! I received a National Geographic grant to support the Hidden Prodigy Project, witnessed significant growth at the iResearch Corporation, celebrated the release and Emmy Award win of National Geographic's "Science Fair: the Series," spoke at the United Nations UNESCO Youth Forum on the importance of science education, created a YouTube channel (StepIntoYourGenius), presented at numerous conferences including the NSTA, transitioned out of my previous teaching role at Jericho HS, and traveled to nine countries, consistently advocating for much-needed improvements to science education globally.
This year has been a whirlwind of achievements and progress. I’ve had the privilege of guiding brilliant students through transformative research projects, seeing their hard work translate into groundbreaking discoveries. Through initiatives of the Hidden Prodigy Project and iResearch Corporation, we will continue to unlock the potential in students and educators, breaking down barriers in science education and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups.
Yet, while I’m proud of how far we’ve come, I know there’s more to do. Science education must become more accessible, inclusive, and innovative to prepare the next generation for the challenges ahead. That’s why we are committed to expanding our reach through these programs, providing mentorship, resources, and opportunities to all students, especially those in underrepresented and underestimated communities.
Together, we can build a future where every student has the tools to contribute to scientific advancement and innovation. I invite you to join us on this journey—whether as a mentor, partner, or supporter of our mission. Let’s continue to inspire and empower the next generation of thinkers, creators, and leaders in STEM.
Here’s to pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and shaping the future of science education. 🚀✨

Do you know anyine with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). T1D is influenced by genetics and other factors, but the role of gut bacteria in its development remains unclear.
Aurora's study investigates how Human Leukocyte
Antigens (HLA) genes and gut bacteria
interact to influence T1D risk. Children with
high-risk HLA genes generally had fewer
beneficial bacteria, like Lachnospira.
Prevotella was more abundant in children
who developed T1D, while Ruminococcus and
others were more common in those who
didn't. Functional bacterial pathways, such as
energy production pathways (PWY.5676 and
PWY.7220/7222) were more common in T1D
low-risk children. The findings suggest that
disruptions in gut bacteria with accompanying
genetic factors may contribute to the
development of T1D.
Amazing writing, amazing work.

Congratulations as we closed our work with another spectacular cohort iResearch Institute 2022 participants. We appreciate your love and passion for science. iRI supports burgeoning young scientists via mentorships, presentation building, and paper writing support.
Apologies to the camera shy mentees.

Contracting Covid19 repeatedly can lead to long term lung damage!
Just in case you missed it… This Week in Science! 📰 🌎
"For the study, COVID patient volunteers with classic respiratory symptoms inhaled a polarized xenon gas isotope which resonates at a frequency under MRI, allowing the researchers to observe the activity of tiny airways (bronchiole's and alveoli) and blood vessels in real-time. Researchers found patients lung vessels were impacted, including many of the smallest ones where the all-important oxygen gas exchange to red blood cells takes place."
