Hey 7th graders π
That test everyone keeps talking about? The SHSAT?
Let me tell you what it ACTUALLY tests.
It's NOT about being the smartest kid in class. I've seen straight-A students struggle and B students absolutely crush it.
Why?
Because the SHSAT tests:
β±οΈ Can you work FAST?
π§ Can you stay focused for 3 HOURS?
π― Do you know the tricks the test uses?
That's the difference between a good student and a good test-taker.

The stuff I'm sharing? It'll help you understand what you're actually up against.
If you're a 7th grade parent in NYC, you've probably heard the SHSAT is "really hard."
But here's what nobody tells youβit's not about being smart. It's about being PREPARED.
In this video, I'm breaking down what actually matters when it comes to SHSAT prep... and what you can safely ignore.
π― Only 1 in 5 students get into a Specialized High School
π― The SHSAT is the ONLY factorβnot grades, not essays
π― Strong students can struggle without the right approach

Good student: Straight A's in class β
But on the SHSAT? Completely different game.
Good TEST-TAKER:
π― Knows the tricks
βοΈ Skips what's hard, comes back
β Eliminates instead of guessing
One is taught in school.
One has to be TRAINED.
Which one is YOUR kid?
Here's the good news: Test-taking skills can be LEARNED. They're not something you're born with.
That's exactly what I'm covering in my free webinar for 7th grade parents.

Myth #4: "It's basically like school tests"

Raise your hand if you've made a beautiful study schedule that lasted exactly 3 days. πββοΈ
I've seen it hundreds of times. Here's how to build one that actually WORKS:
π
Start with non-negotiables: School, activities, family time come FIRST
π
Add 3-4 study blocks per week (not dailyβthat leads to burnout)
π
Keep sessions 45-60 min MAX. Middle schoolers can't focus for 3 hours.
π
Build in breaks and rewards. 'After this section, one episode' works!
π
Leave buffer room. Life happens.
The best schedule? The one your kid actually follows.
