We know long wait times can be incredibly stressful for families. Waiting for answers is hard, and you shouldn’t have to feel stuck in limbo. 💛

At our practice, we’re grateful to share that our current wait time for testing is only 2–3 weeks. Our goal is to provide timely, thoughtful evaluations while supporting families every step of the way.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by delays elsewhere, we’re here to help.

What Is a Sensory Corner?

A sensory corner is a small, predictable space designed to support regulation, emotional control, focus, and participation in daily activities.

It does not need to be expensive or take up an entire room.

Include Calming Supports
Bean bag or floor cushion
Soft blanket or weighted lap pad
Noise-reducing headphones
Dim lighting or string lights
Calm sensory visuals

These supports help reduce sensory overload and promote regulation.

Add Heavy Work Options

Proprioceptive input is often organizing for the nervous system.

Try:

Therapy putty
Resistance bands
Wall push-ups
Weighted stuffed animals
Pushing or pulling activities
Keep the Space Simple

Too much visual clutter can increase dysregulation.

Helpful tips:

Limit toys and distractions
Use neutral or calming colors
Organize materials in bins or baskets
Rotate sensory tools as needed
Make It Functional

A sensory corner should support participation in meaningful activities such as:

Homework
Reading
Emotional regulation
Transitions
Quiet breaks
Self-care routines

Sensory supports are tools to help the child access daily occupations.

OT Tip

Observe which sensory tools actually improve participation.
If a strategy does not help the child engage more successfully, adjust the environment or sensory supports.

ABOUT OUR OWNER- Ashley✨️

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, who keep me grounded and remind me of what matters most. My husband and I are raising our two kids, and like most families, our life is busy, imperfect, and full of meaningful moments. Whether we’re sharing meals, spending time outdoors, or just slowing down together, family time has shaped my appreciation for balance, connection, and resilience.

I work as a school psychologist in public schools while also running my private practice, BrightPath. Both roles—along with my experiences as a parent— strongly influence the way I approach my work: practical, compassionate, and focused on supporting kids and families in real, everyday life.
