Playbuild PlayBuild NOLA is a non-profit venture established in 2012. We transform under-utilized urban spaces

PlayBuild NOLA = A neighborhood destination + advocacy for a better more child-friendly New Orleans.

2828 Thalia Street is our neighborhood hub featuring after-school activities during the week, weekend family gatherings and holiday events, and seasonal camps. Note that as of April 2022, Thalia Street is currently closed due to fire damage. Since 2018 PlayBuild has worked alongside a network of c

itywide leaders to advocate for increased investment and improvements to community infrastructure throughout the City. In 2019 working in collaboration with Arup, the Tulane School of Architecture and the Mayor's Office of Youth and Families, we produced Goals for Child-Friendly New Orleans, a call-to-action for improved safe mobility options and more resilient social infrastructure for NOLA kids and their caregivers.

Big thanks to our GiveNOLA donors whose contributions funded Summer@PlayBuild enabling us to sustain a regular schedule of hosted play dates, family activities, and special events for Juneteenth and the 4th of July at our Thalia Street play space.

We are excited to continue this program of events on Thursday and Friday nights into the Fall, and to add several Volunteer Service Days to the lineup for September, October and November.

HAPPENING NOW: Caribbean Fete is in full swing on the Claiborne corridor!

We are thrilled to be part of this dynamic annual celebration of food, music and culture.

Our Blue Block Party wraps at 4:30 but the vibes continue until 7 pm, and at 5 pm the corridor comes to life with Soca Nola DJ Nola Trini and the Parade of Flags.

Come out and join us in the Kids’ Zone opposite Lemann Playground.

Thank you BLERDfest organizers for inviting PlayBuild out to join you for your 3rd annual event!

We met so many wonderful families today, and loved seeing so much originality on proud display!

What a vibe! Shout out to Mr. TRUE who had the vision to start this event and build a fantastic team to execute it.

Join us this weekend for back-to-back pop-up play events.

On Saturday, June 6th we'll be out at BLERDFest - the Gulf Coast's first and only festival of Black Creativity! Join us at McDonogh 35. Bonus points if you come out in a PlayBuild-inspired costume!

And on Sunday, we'll be in our usual spot on the Claiborne Corridor with our Imagination Station and Big Blue Blocks for an afternoon of family-friendly fun, food, and music in celebration of Caribbean Fete!
