How well do we truly understand the anatomy of the midface?

For years, the accepted anatomical model described the 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼-𝗔𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗦) of the midface without the presence of a deep fascial layer. Through 15 years of anatomical dissection, histological analysis, and surgical correlation, 𝗗𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗼 and her team identified 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗮.
