🐝 Applications Are Opening!

Have you ever wanted to learn beekeeping?

The What It Bees Like Community Beekeeping Academy is a brand-new, year-long, hands-on training program designed to help aspiring beekeepers gain real experience working with honey bee colonies right here in New Orleans.

Participants will learn alongside a small cohort while managing live colonies throughout an entire beekeeping season. Together we'll inspect hives, harvest honey, catch swarms, learn about local pollinator plants, and build the knowledge and confidence to continue beekeeping beyond the program.

• No prior experience required.
• Location: New Orleans
• Limited to 12 participants
• Applications close July 31, 2026

🐝 Orientation begins *August 8, 2026*

Whether you dream of keeping your own bees, supporting a community garden, or simply learning more about pollinators, we'd love to hear from you.

ANOTHER SWARM moved in this morning. I swear, just leave your boxes outside and quit running out to swarm traps 😂 2 swarms in this tower. And 2 years in a row bees have moved in to my rogue equipment outside. 🤷🏾‍♀️🐝

When I was younger I would have cried if I had to get 3 shots in a day. Actually, panic attack lol. Today, I’m like 🤷🏾‍♀️ it’s even not as bad as being stung by a bee. But I do feel like I got hit up…💉💉💉🐝
