What if we could take our deepest breaths in a state of safety and calm? What else could we know about ourselves?

Most of us are most experienced with deep, full breath when we’re super activated — best case is when we’re running or pushing our bodies hard.

Raising our voice matters.

I believe that singing together is hard wired. Find a way.

Maybe with me at Kirtan on Monday?

Who are your people? 03/19/2026

Who are your people? -

Who are your people? I have a confession: I always want to go it alone. It’s easier to navigate without having to get approval, and I never have to compromise or sacrifice.

Is it weird to listen to your own podcast when you need a boost?

The interview I did with Sierra Austin-King is so sweet, and allowed me to revisit all our work together.

Sierra asked me to do an ancestral veneration ceremony a couple years ago, and that sent me down a really important path.

First: I found the work of Malidoma Patrice Somé. His writing about spiritual practice permanently changed how I think about my work - and honestly, the nature of the world.

Next: we had an extraordinary ceremony on the batture in Algiers. We landed their “by accident,” but it’s clear that Someone wanted us there.

Only after Sierra invited me a co-author a paper with her about our work did I realize how sacred that spot was. I’ve been back a few times to visit the beings that are there. I don’t know how to explain it - but that spot where the river bends seems to capture energy.

But it also is a place with a heavy history — the first enslaved Africans were trafficked on that land in the 1720s, just a few years after New Orleans was settled.

I find this work so humbling and inspiring, and am so grateful to be in a place with deep roots and colleagues like Sierra. 😍

Most of us were taught that doubt is the opposite of faith. After two decades of spiritual practice, I think it's actually the other way around.

Today’s reminder? The good s**t doesn’t make the news. Don’t lose hope - go looking for other people building the world you want to live in.

Text from image:

I gathered yesterday with an *extraordinary* group of creators across discipline: healers, musicians, sustainability, experts in “living systems” — and this is your reminder:

THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD STUFF HAPPENING. Most of it is going on behind the scenes, by folks who are so busy DOING it that they don’t always have time to TALK about it.

Don’t lose hope — there are so many of us working hard to build a new world. Sending you love and well wishes.

I asked my spiritual mentor if maybe God is just a lie we tell ourselves to feel better. Her answer was gold.
