A Bittersweet New Chapter at Lacoste Elementary 🐾

Today, we celebrate an incredible educator while also welcoming a familiar face into a new role.

After serving the students, families, and staff of Lacoste Elementary since 2015, Mrs. Brittani Field is beginning an exciting new journey as the Assistant Principal at J.F. Gauthier Elementary. While it is difficult to say goodbye to someone who has been such an important part of our Bulldog family, we couldn’t be more proud of her. Mrs. Field has dedicated herself to helping students grow, supporting her colleagues, and making Lacoste Elementary a better place every single day. Although we will miss her tremendously, we know she is more than ready for this next chapter. Congratulations, Mrs. Field, we know you will do amazing things. J.F. Gauthier is so lucky to have you, as our loss is a huge gain for JFG!

As one chapter closes, another begins. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Brittney Lavigne to our 1st Grade team! Mrs. Lavigne has served as one of our interventionists over the past few years and brings previous preschool teaching experience to her new position. Her passion for students, dedication to learning, and positive attitude make her a wonderful addition to first grade.

Please join us in congratulating both of these amazing educators as they begin their new roles. We are so grateful for each of them and can’t wait to see all they accomplish this school year!

As the 2026- 2027 school year approaches we would like to officially welcome some of our Bulldogs back in their new roles.

🐾Mrs. Lauren Jones- Special Education Teacher
Mrs. Jones has been at Lacoste for three years, first two years as an interventionist then last year taking on the role as a “temporary teacher” for us in our special education department. Throughout the 25-26 school year, Mrs. Jones handled every schedule change, IEP and anything handed to her with professionalism. Throughout the year, while working full time, Mrs. Jones passed all Praxis exams for certification. Mrs. Jones is now a full time Special Education Teacher receiving her certification through our own Teach St. Bernard Program. We are so excited to have her as an “official” member of our Special Education team as she has been an amazing and positive addition!

🐾Ms. Rebecca Moore- Special Education Teacher for Significant Disabilities. Ms. Moore has been with us at Lacoste as a Special Education Paraprofessional for the last few years. During this time, Ms. Moore worked full time and went to school full time to earn her Bachelor’s Degree. She also passed all of her Praxis exams for certification and will be receiving her certification through our own Teach St. Bernard Program. Our school is so thankful that Ms. Moore has remained with us! To watch her grow from an outstanding Paraprofessional to now a Special Education Teacher makes us so proud!

Welcome back, ladies! We can’t wait to watch you both thrive in your roles this year!

All Summer Programs are canceled today, Thursday June 18th, due to the weather system moving through the Parish. School buildings are closed, and our School Board Office will have a delayed mid-morning opening today as well. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe and weather aware.

As Ms. Morel and Mrs. St.Philip finish up their 8th year as the administrative team of Lacoste, we would like to say thank you to our wonderful staff, students and families. It is because of YOU that we remain Bulldog STRONG! As we closed out with our staff on Friday, we had to say “see you later” to two of our Bulldogs…

Mrs. Bridget Wattigney- Mrs. Bridget has been a Special Education para with us over the past years. In doing that job we all knew right away that Mrs. Bridget was born to teach! While she remained in her job as a para she pursued her dream to teach and we are so proud of her for receiving her Bachelor’s degree. Since our school had no open K- 5 positions, our loss was a huge gain for Arlene Meraux Elementary as Mrs. Bridget will be one of their new 3rd grade teachers. We are so very proud of her hard work and dedication. The 🐝 are lucky to have you!

Ms. Anne Marie Nunez- If your child has been fortunate to come through the Lacoste Pre-K program… you had the privilege of knowing this kind soul! Ms. Anne Marie IS PRE-K… she has loved our littlest Bulldogs for years and we honestly can’t imagine our Pre- K team without her. With that being said, this lovely lady deserves a well-earned RETIREMENT!! We are so excited for her next chapter, you got this Ms. Anne Marie!

To both of these amazing educators, THANK YOU for loving our children! Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog!!

Congratulations to our Kindergarten and 5th-grade Bulldogs on their closing ceremonies! We are so proud of our kindergarteners and all the growth they've shown as they head into 1st grade. We are also proud of our 5th graders for completing their elementary journey and getting ready to begin their next chapter in middle school. So many memories and special moments were made this year that they will cherish forever. Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog! ❤️🐾

✨ Mrs. Hood’s kindergarten and third grade classes ended the school year with a glowing celebration! 💫 Students enjoyed a fun-filled glow party complete with neon colors, glowing decorations, and lots of dancing as they celebrated an amazing year together.

Our 5th graders enjoyed their annual 5th grade breakfast this morning! 🖤🐾❤️They also received beach balls to collect signatures and sweet memories from teachers and friends on their last day before tomorrow’s closing ceremony. 🏖️
