On October 22nd, our Franklin center caught fire and everything inside was lost. For over a month, our families have endured displacement, heartbreak, and uncertainty — yet they’ve remained committed to Kids of Excellence.

Yesterday, we finally reopened at our temporary Central City location. Seeing our children walk into a safe classroom again was emotional and uplifting.

But the reality remains:

We are rebuilding an entire childcare center from the ground up.

Giving Tuesday: A New Beginning After an Unimaginable Loss 💛🤍💙

On October 22nd, our Franklin center suffered a devastating fire that resulted in a total loss. Overnight, 57 children and their families were displaced. The past month has been filled with emotions, logistics, tough decisions, and a deep commitment to keep our kids learning and loved.

Yesterday, we officially reopened at our temporary Central City location, a moment of joy after weeks of heartache.

This reopening would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of , who opened the doors of her licensed Central City center so our Franklin family could continue receiving high-quality early education without interruption. Her support gave our children stability and gave our team hope. We are forever grateful.

It’s been two weeks since the fire that destroyed our Kids of Excellence Franklin location. Two weeks of heartbreak, long days, and sleepless nights, but also, two weeks of hope.

We’ve officially raised $45,000 toward our $500,000 goal. Thanks to every single person who has given, shared, and prayed for us. I wish I could hug each of you. Your love reminds us that we’re not alone in this journey to rebuild.

Looking back at photos from this school year was emotional. Seeing our classrooms full of joy, learning, and laughter, knowing how much was lost. But those same photos remind us why we fight so hard to rebuild. These children deserve spaces filled with light, discovery, and love again.

Last Thursday’s Free Farmers Market reminded us why we do what we do. 🤍⭐️💙

After everything our KOE family has faced — from the loss of our Franklin location to the recent challenges families are experiencing with SNAP cuts — this event couldn’t have come at a better time.

In partnership with , we were able to bring fresh produce, smiles, and a little relief to families across all three centers. What started as a simple idea to promote healthy eating became a moment of hope and connection when our community needed it most.

We’re so grateful to every parent, partner, and friend who continues to show up for our children, our teachers, and our mission. 💛

Yesterday marked one full week since the devastating fire that destroyed our Franklin location. A place filled with love, laughter, and learning. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions, and though we are deeply devastated, we are also incredibly grateful.

Our beloved Kids of Excellence Franklin Center was destroyed in a devastating fire on October 22, 2025. We are beyond grateful that every child and staff member made it out safely. Yet our building, and decades of memories, learning, and love, were lost.

Since 1999, Kids of Excellence has been a community pillar, serving New Orleans families with high-quality, affordable early education. Our three NAEYC nationally accredited, 5-star centers have shaped generations of children through care, excellence, and community.

Insurance will only cover a portion of the damage, leaving us with a $1.1 million gap to rebuild. We are calling on our community — near and far — to help us rise again, restore what was lost, and continue serving the children and families who depend on us.

Each day at Kids of Excellence is filled with discovery, joy, and hands-on learning experiences that build curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning. ✨

No moment is too small, every interaction and every activity is shaping tomorrow’s thinkers, creators, and leaders. 🌟

From Practice to Application 🌱✨ 🪴 Our little learners took their pretend play from the classroom to the garden!

After exploring how to pour, measure, and care for plants indoors, they put their skills into action: watering, observing, and nurturing real seedlings outside. Hands-on learning helps children make meaningful connections, building confidence, responsibility, and a love for nature every step of the way. 🌿💚

Today, we stood together in solidarity for Day Without Child Care,not as a protest, but as a powerful reminder: our economy doesn’t work without child care, and neither can working families.
