We are so inspired after our conversations with you all at our 6th annual social mixer for public scholarship at in New Orleans 👻 last week! Thanks to everyone for coming out and sharing your successes and challenges in doing engaged scholarship, building and growing community is essential in this work and we are in this together! Our favorite moment: when a young scholar, now a PhD student, shared how her first paid position ever was working as one of our moderators for our workshop in 2021! (Shout out to Wenner Gren for the workshop grant funding to enable us to support the growth of new public scholars!)

We’re excited to be kicking off the Fall academic term workshopping strategies for engaging communities and challenging stereotypes with academic projects with Prof Pinar’s students of global migration at Middlebury College on September 18th 🌍Communities are best served when public engagement strategies are built into projects at the beginning and not “tacked on” at the end, and we are heartened to see this growing trend in academia! 🧡 Registration is open!
