Sabrina Ford Student Leadership Conference
September 11-13, 2026
Lake Lavon in Princeton, Texas

This past weekend, Miss Johnson, Assistant Director of Educational Talent Search and a LASAP/SWASAP Board and Student Leadership Committee member, brought leadership, service, and creativity together while volunteering at the Sabrina Ford Student Leadership Conference at Camp Lake Lavon in Princeton, Texas.
Working alongside fellow SWASAP committee members, Miss Johnson engaged with high school and college students from across the region and beyond. Guided by the conference motto, “Go, Fight, Win,” participants honored the legacy of the late Sabrina Ford while taking part in meaningful experiences centered on networking, team building, personal reflection, leadership development, and goal setting.
As part of the conference, Miss Johnson facilitated two Meditation Art sessions designed to give students a different kind of leadership experience, one focused on slowing down, reflecting, and expressing themselves creatively. Participants were encouraged to create without the pressure of perfection, combining mindful reflection with artistic expression to help quiet their minds and explore their thoughts and emotions through creativity.
The sessions reinforced an important message for emerging leaders: leadership is not only about taking action. It is also about developing the self-awareness to recognize what you are thinking, understand what you are feeling, and give yourself space to reset, reflect, and move forward with intention.
The weekend was a powerful celebration of student leadership, connection, creativity, and the continuing legacy behind the call to “Go, Fight, Win!”
