Happy ! Today we remember the contributions of Dr. Florence Seibert (1897-1991). She is most recognized for purifying a protein found in the tuberculosis bacteria which can be used to test individuals for TB. This method allowed strict standardization of testing which was previously unreliable. Additionally, Dr. Seibert greatly improved the safety of IV injections when she developed a method of water distillation which freed water of contaminants. For her work, she was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1990 and her TB testing methods continue to save lives to this day.
