Every year in Kindergarten, Ms. Mal's class completes a cross-curricular project. This year, their project incorporated Science, Tech, Religion, and Art! In Science and Writers' Workshop, the girls worked on animal research papers. They began by learning all about animals and animal classification, discussing predator and prey, oviparous and viviparous, and the food chain.

The girls chose their animals and gathered information for their writing project, conducting all the research on their own through books and videos.

Next, the girls were challenged to "draw like a scientist" to create realistic diagrams of their animals. They wrote a page on the habitat, diet, and a cool fact about their animals.

After completing their writing, they moved on to the Art and Technology component. First, they created mini-diagrams of their animals in their habitats. Next, they used a program called Chatterpix to bring their illustrations to life! ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ‡ ๐ŸฆŒ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿต ๐Ÿฆ“ ๐ŸฆŒ ๐Ÿฎ

This Spring, the Roarsome Readers in Mrs. Notarianni's 1st Grade Class had a successful sale of their homemade beaded bookmarks! ๐Ÿ“šThe girls had SUCH a fun time and were so excited to share and sell their work.

Each bookmark featured colorful beads and UA-inspired designs to build a culture of reading at Ursuline and inspire girls throughout the school to discover new stories and fall even more in love with reading. ๐ŸŒŸ

We are so proud of Mrs. Notarianni's 1st Grade entrepreneurs, who worked so hard to raise more than $1,000 from their Roarsome Readers business! ๐Ÿฆ
