Happy Indigenous People’s Day!
This mural, a work in progress, is going up in our main office as a land acknowledgement to all of the Nations on whose lands we dwell, who stewarded the land long before colonial invasion and still do so despite the genocide and cultural erasure Indigenous people constantly face.
New Harmony High honors you and your ancestors!

We know that even with power back on and school re-opening tomorrow, things are far from normal and many of us are still in crisis mode; many of us may have damaged homes, leaking roofs, still evacuated, might not be able to make groceries this week, struggling with FEMA applications and so on. New Harmony is here to support ya'll as best we can! Please fill out the check-in survey (in your email inbox or at link in post) so we can assess what our community needs are as we navigate these hard times together! If you have a sibling/ multiple students at New Harmony, you only need to fill out one form.
We hope to see many of you at our first day back tomorrow and completely understand if you are not able to be back in school yet ~ let us know via the form, check in with your advisors, we are here for you and there is no shame in letting us know what support you need right now!

Even as we enter Week 3 of Relief and Recovery from Hurricane Ida, we know many of our families are still in crisis mode. We hope some of these resources help! If you know of more resources available in NOLA, please comment below! ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Big shout out to run by our staff member Kelsey for the immediate relief they provided to fams!
If you have immediate needs that have not been addressed by mutual aid groups, please text 504-321-3942 and Josie will try to coordinate supply & grocery drops to you and your family ❤️
We are in this together!

Thank you all for your well wishes and concern about the New Harmony family as we weather hurricane Ida. Even though power has started to come back on in some of Orleans parish and beyond, there is still so much devastation, clean up, emotional recovery, etc. to be done. We also recognize families have students in multiple schools and we want to honor the directives of NOPS as we make our own decision for reopening as a state authorized school. Our school building still does not have power even though it did not experience significant damage from the storm. Thank you for your patience. If you’d like to donate directly to folks on the ground please visit (Black youth 14-21) (mission aligned mutual aid) (Black-led org list) (culture bearers) (TGNC) 🌀🗣 Stay tuned for more info soon via email, Remind, robocall.
