There’s a difference between being a teacher and being a Holy Cross Educator.

A Holy Cross Educator sees every young man entrusted to our care not simply as a student, but as a child of God with a unique purpose, potential, and story.

It means bringing faith into everything we do. It means educating hearts and minds. It means inviting God into the partnership between school, family, and student as we work together to help each young man become the person he is called to be.

And it means doing it together.

Our Holy Cross Educators continue to grow, with some new faces joining a team that is already stronger because of the people who make it up. We’re grateful for the experience, energy, faith, and joy each Holy Cross Educator brings to this mission.

These smiling faces say a lot about where we are headed: we’re ready. We’re excited. And we can’t wait to welcome our Tigers back home.

A new school year is just around the corner, and we believe it’s going to be a great one.

This is what it means to be a Holy Cross Educator. This is the Heart of Holy Cross.

Today, our Holy Cross Educators had the opportunity to put our faith into action.

After a moving day of retreat focused on the importance of our Catholic faith and our mission as Holy Cross Educators, we partnered with Councilman Green to serve our local community by helping clean up Parisite Skatepark at the intersection of Paris Avenue and Pleasure Street beneath the I-610 overpass.

The inspiration came from our own students. This summer, many of our students spent time serving communities across the country, and in their reflections, they reminded us of something simple but important: We are called to serve the community right here, where we live, work, and learn.

So, as a part of our day retreat, 25 of our seniors and all of our Holy Cross Educators got to work, putting our faith into action and helping make our community shine.

We teach our students that faith is not simply something we believe. It is something we live. And today, we lived it together!

The heart of Catholic education is the Sacred Heart of Jesus. And the heart of Holy Cross is the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Today, our Holy Cross Educators joined Catholic school educators from across the Archdiocese for a Day of Formation at Xavier University. The day began with Mass celebrated by Archbishop Checchio, followed by an inspiring keynote from Fr. Jared Rodrigue.

Together, we were reminded of the mission at the heart of everything we do: to allow the students entrusted to our care to encounter Jesus through us.

It was a beautiful day of formation, reflection, faith, and unity with our fellow Catholic educators. We leave renewed in our mission, strengthened in our community, and even more eager to welcome our Tigers back for a new school year!

Before the first bell ever rings, our newest Tigers are preparing well for the school year!

During Tiger Crossing, incoming middle and high school students spent the week building friendships, refreshing their academic skills, and learning the ins and outs of life at Holy Cross.

Tiger Crossing is about more than preparing for the school year, it’s about helping every new student find his place, build confidence, and know that he belongs from day one.

The school year is almost here, and we can’t wait to welcome these young men back to campus. Let’s have a great year!

Congratulations to Gavin Barras ’26, who has earned the opportunity to represent Team USA at the NAPF Sub-Junior Championships in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada!

Gavin put together an outstanding senior season, capturing first-place finishes at the Dutchtown Meet, the LHSPLA South Regional, and the Powerlifting America High School Nationals. After a runner-up finish at the LHSAA State Championship, he continued his impressive run by claiming the national title in the 59kg weight class with a total lift of 1,150 pounds.

After a summer of dedicated training, Gavin is ready to compete on the international stage and is aiming for his best total yet.

Join us in wishing Gavin the very best as he proudly represents both Team USA and the Holy Cross family! 🇺🇸🏋️‍♂️

Science Camp was full of cool discoveries! ❄️🧪

One of our favorite activities was experimenting with dry ice as campers explored the fascinating properties of solids, liquids, and gases through hands-on learning. Bubbling reactions and clouds of fog, each experiment sparked curiosity, encouraged questions, and brought science to life in an unforgettable way!

This summer, members of our Holy Cross faith community traveled to the University of Notre Dame for several faith-filled formation experiences that will have a lasting impact on our school community.

Our seniors Luke Davis, Roux Guerra, and Andrew Tran participated in the Diakonia Experience, where they were trained to serve alongside our Campus Ministry team in creating new pathways to Communion and Christian Service here at Holy Cross through support from the Lilly Foundation.

Seniors Dylan Murillo, Arius Miranda, Kobe Terry, and Dylan Vo attended the Notre Dame Vision Conference, joining young people from across the country to deepen their faith, build community, and grow as Catholic leaders.

Holy Cross Educators Logan Puissegur ’19 and Brian Kitchen participated in the Campus & Youth Ministry Training, gaining valuable tools and inspiration to continue fostering faith and discipleship on our campus.

We are grateful for these opportunities for growth and formation. We can’t wait to see how God works through each of these Tigers as they bring what they’ve learned back to Holy Cross.

This summer marked the return of one of our favorite Holy Cross traditions, bringing together alumni, students, families, and friends for a weekend on the water filled with fellowship, friendly competition, and plenty of great memories.

It was wonderful to see so many members of the Holy Cross family come together at the Holy Cross Fishing Rodeo to celebrate this tradition once again. Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped make the event such a success. We’re already looking forward to next year!

🤖⚙️ STEM Camp ended with the ultimate Battle Bots challenge!

After designing, building, and coding, our campers put their skills to the test by engineering custom armor for their Sphero Mini robots and block-coding them to drive into battle. Using iPads as their controllers, students faced off in the battle arena, where creativity, strategy, and teamwork were on full display as they competed to be the last bot standing.

It was the perfect finale to an exciting week filled with hands-on STEM exploration, problem-solving, and innovation. We can’t wait to see what our campers create next!

Everything is bigger in Texas, including our Holy Cross family!

This summer, members of our 2026 Student Council traveled to St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, joining students from Holy Cross schools across the country for an unforgettable leadership experience.

Throughout the week, they collaborated with fellow student leaders, shared what makes Holy Cross School unique, exchanged ideas to strengthen each of our schools, and built friendships rooted in our shared Holy Cross mission. They also explored the Texas State Capitol, participated in leadership workshops, spent time in prayer and reflection, traded school shirts with students from across the country, visited the grave sites of the Holy Cross Brothers who helped build and shape our school as we know it, and made memories that will last a lifetime.

They return to New Orleans inspired, recharged, and ready to help make this school year the best one yet!
