As many of you know, my students in Tampa were directly affected by two hurricanes over the last month.
Here's a list of items they urgently need.
- non-perishable food items and snacks
- clothing items (scrubs, socks, sweatshirts)
- personal care items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, washcloths, tampons, deodorant)
If you have the means and desire to help, please let me know. I plan to ship the items on Monday. I can also accept Venmo and pick up these items. Just search for .
Thanks!

Itβs supposed to rain a lot at my house over the weekend and maybe even during the week. Iβm looking forward to the cooler temps.
Iβm also excited about the opportunities Iβll have to experience actual fall weather in other parts of the country over the next several weeks! βοΈππππβοΈ

My dissertation work is far from easy. I've been very open about how often I cry because it's overwhelming with everything else I do.
As I finish grading for the summer term and prep for the 6th time I'll teach "Cultural Diversity and Global Health," I'm still blown away that I get to do this. π
When I started my doctorate I planned on staying in higher ed full-time, but now I do satisfying work that exceeds my dreams at APHL. WHAT IS THIS LIFE? π
I like this trajectory, and as I enter my last academic year as a student at Tulane, I'm humbled and thankful...and ready to graduate. Let's do this. π

The students I teach in "Cultural Diversity and Global Health" are located in Tampa.
I'm praying that they make it through the storm without issue. If you pray, please join me in that asking God to protect them! β€

I was off work today, so I worked on my dissertation from morning to late tonight. Throughout the day, I was encouraged by my husband, friends, colleagues, and my professor and cohort besties, and I needed it.
Earning a doctorate is hard work, obviously. I will go to sleep tonight grateful for the opportunity to gain this education and thankful that it's over for today.
Is it May yet?

I was back in the studio this week, discussing the effects of criticism. It can be helpful in certain situations, but it can also wreck any attempt you make at being joyful.
