Today I had the opportunity to present for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as part of its Building Bridges webinar series, where we explored communication across differences and what it takes to build stronger, more effective workplaces.

A lot of my work centers on leadership development — helping people strengthen the way they communicate, navigate challenges, build trust and lead others well.

I love this work because leadership has a very real impact on people. The way we communicate matters. The environments we create matter. How people experience us as leaders matters.

I feel really lucky to get to help people translate what they learn into what they actually do — in a difficult conversation, in a meeting, during conflict or when someone on their team needs them to lead well.

I’m grateful to ASCP for the opportunity to contribute to the conversation and it's so cool that I get to do work that continues to challenge, energize and inspire me.

This was the last segment I recored before I left New Orleans. I feel so privileged to get to continue to be a part of the show, and I'm sharing this segment now for the first time.

It's ironic - I found it hard to want to post this segment because I had such low energy that day. I was facing a multi-day move across the country with my pups in one car while Michael drove the moving truck, and I was already tired.

Back to the ironic part - the segment was about something I passionately speak about all the time - progress not perfection.

Perfection isn't required. Why is it so hard to remember that sometimes?

As many of you know, my students in Tampa were directly affected by two hurricanes over the last month.

Here's a list of items they urgently need.

- non-perishable food items and snacks
- clothing items (scrubs, socks, sweatshirts)
- personal care items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, washcloths, tampons, deodorant)

Sometimes I try to remember what life was like before I spent so much time on homework.

Tonight, as I wrap up this full and lovely weekend by working on my dissertation, I'm reminded that I dreamed of this life. Actually, it's better than what I dreamed it could be. I plan to remember that truth as I finish my doctorate over the next several months.

I'm still looking forward to life without homework though. 😅

It’s supposed to rain a lot at my house over the weekend and maybe even during the week. I’m looking forward to the cooler temps.
