M3T Grade level launch!! Stephanie Long and Amy Littell joined 7th grade teachers from across the state to kick off the year with Ratios and Proportions. They were joined by Pam Christy and Paul Huston from the county office.

Paden City Elementary had a wonderful Back-to-School Bash filled with smiles, laughter, and a true sense of community!

A heartfelt thank you to all of our amazing staff who volunteered their time, our parents and guardians, our students, and the many local organizations and community partners who came out to support our school.

This is what public education is all about, coming together to support our children and build strong communities. We can’t wait for an incredible school year at Paden City Elementary!

Service Wednesday Spotlight

This week, we're proud to recognize Mrs. Bragg, a dedicated custodian at Hundred Heritage School, as part of our I Love West Virginia Public Schools campaign!

Mrs. Bragg is beginning her 11th year at Hundred Heritage School. Her commitment to keeping the school safe, clean, and welcoming helps create a positive learning environment for every student and staff member.

When asked why public education is important, Mrs. Bragg shared:

"It's important for our kids to have the opportunity to learn from teachers who truly care about their well-being, and they get that at Hundred Heritage School."

She also shared her favorite part about working in public education:

"I love the fact that I get to see our babies grow into adulthood."

WCTEC to Launch New Pre-Cosmetology Program
Thursday, August 13th from 9-2 Open House

The Wetzel County Technical Education Center (WCTEC) is excited to announce the addition of a Pre-Cosmetology program beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. The new program expands career and technical education opportunities for students while helping meet the growing demand for licensed beauty professionals throughout West Virginia.

The two-year Pre-Cosmetology program will provide students with a strong foundation in the science and art of cosmetology through classroom instruction and extensive hands-on training in a modern salon environment. Students will learn hair care, hair cutting, styling, chemical services, shampooing, scalp treatments, sanitation, infection control, customer service, communication, and professional ethics while developing the technical and employability skills needed to succeed in the beauty industry.

Any current junior from Wetzel County or Tyler County who is interested in the Pre-Cosmetology program is invited to attend an informational open house at the Wetzel County Technical Education Center on Thursday, August 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to meet Ashley Watson, tour the new cosmetology lab, learn about the curriculum, ask questions, and complete an application for enrollment.

Teacher Tuesday Spotlight

This week's Teacher Tuesday spotlight shines on Mrs. Fluharty from Hundred Heritage School!

As she begins her 33rd year of teaching, Mrs. Fluharty is proud to say that every one of those years has been spent in public education.

When asked why she loves public schools, she shared:

"I am proud to say it is all in public education. I am a product of public education, and I've had some wonderful mentors over the years who helped guide me into the career choice that I made."

One of her favorite parts of teaching is seeing the excitement on a student's face when everything clicks.

"I love seeing the look on students' faces when they have that 'a-ha' moment, when the light turns on and they just get it."

Mrs. Fluharty is also proud of the profession she has dedicated her life to.

"I am proud to say that I'm a teacher, and I'm proud to say that I am a public school educator."

Thank you, Mrs. Fluharty, for 33 years of inspiring students, believing in their potential, and making a difference each and every day. Educators like you are the heart of our schools and a shining example of why we love West Virginia public schools.
