Remembrance: Honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women is a multimedia art exhibit comprised entirely of community made works of art. This exhibit has been curated to bring attention to the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women and provide a space for reflection and prayer. The opening reception for the exhibit will take place on Sunday, 2/19 at 2:00 PM in the Ezra Stiles art gallery. All are welcome to attend. We ask that you wear red in solidarity with the women we are honoring.

On February 14th, Indigenous women march and hold vigils to call attention to the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women. One in three Native women in the US and Canada will experience sexual assault in her lifetime, and Native women are the most likely racial or ethnic group to be missing and murdered.

Yale Sisters of All Nations and Yale Native American Arts Council asks community members to submit art for an exhibit honoring missing and murdered Indigenous women to be displayed from Sunday, February 12 - Saturday, February 18 on the third floor of the Native American Cultural Center.

“The minimization of Native voices in local, state and federal government is a giant issue for Native people,” she said. “We see the fall out and continuation of this historical minimization today.”

McCray, who is running for Norman City Council Ward 6, said she believes it is vital that people of color – particularly women of color – see themselves reflected and represented, especially in elected leadership.

Oklahoma recently saw two American Indian women receive human rights awards for their respective activism on indigenous issues.

Announcing our keynote speaker, Professor J. Kēhaulani Kauanui, who will be joining us for a Davenport College Tea with remarks on "Columbusing Columbus?" We're so excited to bring her down from Middleton for our event!

J. Kēhaulani Kauanui is an Associate Professor of American Studies and Anthropology at Wesleyan University where she teaches on settler colonialism, comparative indigenous politics, US race, and anarchism. She is the author of a book titled, Hawaiian Blood: Colonialism and the Politics of Sovereignty and Indigeneity (published by Duke University Press in 2008). Kauanui is completing her second book, Thy Kingdom Come? Paradoxes of Hawaiian Sovereignty, a critical study of gender, sexuality, and statist nationalism. She is one of the original six co-founders of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, established in 2008. She has also worked as producer and host of a public affairs radio program, “Indigenous Politics: From Native New England and Beyond,” which aired from 2007-2013 and can be accessed through the audio archives at: indigenouspolitics.com.

October 1st marks the first day of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Join Sisters of All Nations for an event each week. You can help by spreading awareness and supporting the Native women in your life.

Week 1:
Show your support by posting and . Look out for our whiteboard campaign next week.
Week 2:
Join the Yale Native and New Haven community in celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day on Sunday, October 11th and Monday, October 12th. Details to come.
Week 3:
Sisters of All Nations will host a vision board craft night at the NACC. Start raiding magazines for pictures of Native women who inspire you and other things to bling up the board.
Week 4:
The Sisters will take a self defense class together.
