We’re proud of you, Dr. Tucker!
A stuffed toy elephant is one of many toys that special education associate professor Lauren Tucker adapted with her graduate elective class at Southern Connecticut State University.
Tucker and her students make adaptive toys for teachers to use in their classroom and to give a few away to students.
These “switch adapted” toys can move, squawk and sing and can easily be operated by people who have limited motor abilities because of special switches installed.

Faculty and staff members of the College of Education at Southern Connecticut State University, along with the students, faculty and staff of Hamden Transition Academy (which the College of Education is privileged to host), collected toys for the Barack Obama Magnet University School's toy drive. The students from HTA raised funds and went shopping to purchase many of these toys. They also helped load the cars, so that we could deliver them to the Obama school.
