Guatemala has been hit by the Tropical Storm Agatha—with devastating results. The most vulnerable and poorest communities have been affected the most, with flooding and mudslides that have destroyed many villages around the country.

At least 152 people have died, and at least 90 are missing. Almost 125,000 people have been evacuated and 74,000 are currently living in shelters (CNN.com 6/1/10). It may be that there are more cases of injured, deaths, and people missing that have not yet been reported.
Local populations and local NGO’s have been working to aid the victims of the storm and rebuild the homes that have been damaged or destroyed.Alotenango is a village extremely affected by the storm. One of Encountour's working partners NGO Bendición de Dios desperately needs help to rebuild the community and provide relief to the affected families. 12 families in Alotenango lost their homes and a total of 75 families lost everything they own due to flooding and mudslides.
