Wilmington University College of Social and Behavioral Sciences' John Rolfe, Adjunct Professor and Adjunct Program Coordinator for the master’s degree program in the Administration of Justice and the master’s degree program in Homeland Security, delivered the welcome address to 38 individuals representing 16 nations at their naturalization ceremony on June 4, 2026, at the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. As they took the Oath of Allegiance and received their Certificates of Naturalization, the moment marked not only a milestone in their journey to citizenship, but also a powerful affirmation of the diversity that continues to shape and strengthen our nation.

Dean, Dr. Adrienne Bey, DocSocSci Chair, Dr. Shawn Stevens, and advisory committee members from the Wilmington University College of Social and Behavioral Sciences’ Latino Initiative, attended the 2026 Latino Summit, sponsored by the DE Hispanic Commission.

The Delaware Hispanic Commission advises the Governor, the General Assembly, and state agencies on matters impacting the Hispanic and Latino community; works to improve access to education, economic opportunity, health, and civic participation; and promotes policies and initiatives that enhance the quality of life and full inclusion of Latinos across the State of Delaware.

The summit’s theme, “Together We Are Stronger,” was reflected throughout the day through interactive workshops, meaningful community connections, cultural performances, and a celebration of entrepreneurship.

The college’s Latino Initiative aligns with the commission’s vision of empowering Hispanic communities through greater equity, opportunity, and access to success. We are committed to creating pathways that support and encourage access to success through higher education.

Congratulations to the DE Hispanic Commission on a successful summit! 🎉

Last month, Dr. Jake Andrews, Chair of our Associate's and Bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice, was invited to attend the Appoquinimink High School Criminal Justice Senior Showcase, as an evaluator for their senior projects. About 35 seniors presented their projects, each highlighting different topics from the Work-Based Learning experience they completed during their senior year. Alongside other industry partners, Dr. Andrews had the opportunity to grade the projects based on their content, professionalism, appearance, and overall delivery. Dr. Andrews said it was impressive to see the dedication and creativity these students brought to their presentations.

During the event, Dr. Andrews also spoke with several students about their future plans and college choices. He took this opportunity to share information about Wilmington University degree programs, including the Farnan School of Law and the WilmU credits they have already earned through Wilmington University's Pre-College Program, which provides students the opportunity to earn college credit while still attending high school.

Dr. Andrews reported that it was great to see their enthusiasm and interest in furthering their education.

The Wilmington University College of Social and Behavioral Sciences had a lot to celebrate at our last college meeting for the academic year. 🎉

Dr. Allan Zaback, Chair of the Master’s degree program in Human Services, and Dr. Shawn Stevens, Chair of the Doctor in Social Science in Prevention Science degree program, both decided it was time for their next chapter and retired from their respective programs. Their dedication to WilmU and our students has been exemplary. We wish them well on their journey! 🎊

Our Adjunct Program Coordinators (APC) and Student Support Service staff who work diligently with our students were also celebrated. We could not do all that we do without them. We truly appreciate the collaboration. ☺️

The celebration ended by acknowledging summer birthdays. 🥳

Congratulations again to everyone and we look forward to a great academic year…after a summer of fun and relaxation. ☀️🏖️🕶️

Today, the M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program welcomed a new cohort, and congratulated a graduating cohort, at their joint new student orientation and graduating student award ceremony. 🎉

The graduates’ commitment to excellence in clinical mental health counseling reflects not only their academic achievement, but their dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The new students are preparing to enter a field with many needs, but at the same time, many promises. How noble it is of them to heed the call. ✨

We are honored that they chose WilmU’s CMHC program. Their best is yet to come!
