For David Walker, Lawrence County CTC has provided an opportunity to develop valuable trade skills, gain real-world experience, and prepare for a future in the skilled workforce.

A Wilmington student in the Welding program, David is also involved in the Conservation Club. Through his CTE education, including earning his CMfgA Certification with the AMP Program, and participation in the co-op program at RNL Vacuum, he has been able to take what he learns in the classroom and demonstrate his abilities in a workplace setting.

David has a clear goal for life after high school: joining the Ironworkers Union and pursuing a career in the skilled trades.

When asked why other students should consider LCCTC, David highlighted the quality of its programs and the opportunities they provide.

“I would consider going to the LCCTC because it has such great programs for you to learn and get a good education.”

He also appreciates the opportunity to participate in co-op, which allows him to showcase his work and apply his skills beyond the classroom.

For David, Career and Technical Education has opened doors to hands-on learning, career exploration, and practical experience that can help prepare him for his next step.

His experience demonstrates the value of combining technical instruction with opportunities to put those skills into practice. Through programs like Welding and the co-op experience, students can build confidence, develop workplace habits, and begin preparing for careers in industries that depend on skilled, dedicated workers.

And when asked if he had anything else to share, David summed up his feelings simply:

“I love the LCCTC!”

With his sights set on the Ironworkers Union, David is working toward a future where the skills he is developing today can become the foundation of a rewarding career.

Learn a trade. Put your skills to work. Build your future. That's the power of CTE!

For Dakota Wiles, Lawrence County CTC has provided an opportunity to learn valuable skills, explore new possibilities, and prepare for a future in the skilled trades.

A Shenango student in the Automotive Technology program, Dakota is building a foundation of technical knowledge and practical experience that can help him take the next step toward his career goals. After graduation, he plans to continue his education in the trades, further developing the skills he needs to succeed in his chosen field.

When asked why other students should consider LCCTC, Dakota emphasized the opportunity for a fresh start and a new environment.

“Someone should consider LCCTC because it’s a fresh start. It’s a whole new atmosphere with new people, and you can be whoever you want to be. I chose to focus on my future career, and in co-op at Uneeda Tire, I'm able to do that!”

For Dakota, that fresh start has made a difference. His time at LCCTC has helped him gain valuable information and knowledge related to his trade, giving him a stronger foundation for the future.

That is one of the many benefits of Career and Technical Education. Students have the opportunity to learn by doing, work with experienced instructors, connect with classmates from different schools, and develop skills that can open doors to future education and employment.

Dakota’s experience is a reminder that choosing a CTE program is about more than learning a trade. It can also mean discovering new interests, building confidence, and finding an environment where students can focus on their goals and their potential.

As Dakota continues his journey in Automotive Technology, he is taking important steps toward a future built on knowledge, hands-on experience, and continued learning.

A fresh start. Valuable skills. A future full of possibilities. That's the power of CTE!

For Karmalita “Karma” Douglas, Lawrence County CTC is about much more than learning a career skill. It is an opportunity to grow as a student, develop confidence, discover new interests, and prepare for a meaningful future.

A New Castle student in the Health Assistant program, Karma is involved in Peer Leadership and Student Council and hopes to compete in SkillsUSA. Through these experiences, she is building leadership skills, strengthening her sense of responsibility, and learning the importance of teamwork and perseverance.

Looking toward the future, Karma has her sights set on an exciting goal: serving in the United States Navy. Her time at LCCTC is helping her develop valuable skills and personal qualities that can serve her well as she prepares for life beyond high school, and she's getting her start with a co-op job at The Haven Convalescent Home.

When asked why other students should consider LCCTC, Karma explained:

“Someone should consider LCCTC because it offers students much more than a traditional classroom education. It gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn real-world skills, explore career options, and prepare for their future.”

For Karma, the impact has reached far beyond the classroom. She credits LCCTC with helping her become more confident, recognize the value of hard work, and believe in her own potential.

“The teachers and people at LCCTC have encouraged me to believe in myself and pushed me to become the best version of myself.”

That is the power of Career and Technical Education. Students gain practical knowledge while developing the confidence, professionalism, leadership, and determination needed to succeed in whatever path they choose.

Whether through hands-on learning, student leadership, or preparation for military service, LCCTC gives students opportunities to discover what they are capable of accomplishing.
