Massive Church Fire Erupts in Cleveland 🔥

A massive fire broke out at the vacant Friendship Baptist Church on Cleveland’s east side early Friday morning, with flames spreading from the church to a nearby two-and-a-half-story building.

The fire began shortly before 2 a.m. near East 55th Street and Central Avenue, with firefighters arriving to find flames shooting through the church’s roof.

The blaze was upgraded to a two-alarm fire, and crews repositioned equipment due to potential collapse risks. Multiple ladder trucks worked from several angles as firefighters battled the flames.

The fire was visible from multiple parts of the city, with debris and ash covering nearby streets. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

8 Killed in Alaska Charter Plane Crash 🚨
A charter plane carrying a pilot and seven passengers crashed Thursday near Cape Newenham Airport in Southwest Alaska, killing all eight people aboard, officials confirmed.

The twin-engine Cessna, operated by Security Aviation, was traveling from Anchorage to Cape Newenham when it went down on land around 12:15 p.m. local time.

Search and rescue teams, including the Alaska Air National Guard and Alaska State Troopers, responded to the crash site. The NTSB and FAA are investigating.

All eight victims were civilian contractors, not military personnel. The flight was chartered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which confirmed that at least two of its employees were among those killed.

Police are responding after a suspect reportedly fired at a man inside a building in New York City, striking him in the hand and later in the chest.

The suspect is reportedly armed and remains barricaded inside the building as NYPD specialized units, including ESU, TARU and the Hostage Negotiation Team, respond to the scene.

Police have established a staging area for emergency units and are searching the building, including the roof, as officers work to secure the area.

The victim is receiving emergency medical attention as the investigation and police response continue. 📲

Rare Mosquito-Borne Virus Detected in Michigan 🦟
Michigan health officials have confirmed a case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in a resident of Roscommon County. Officials said the virus was acquired locally.

EEE is primarily spread to people through the bites of mosquitoes that have previously fed on infected birds. People infected with EEE cannot spread the virus to others.

Symptoms can range from mild or none to severe illness and may include fever, headache, nausea, and chills. The virus was last detected in Michigan in 2021.

Health officials are continuing to monitor mosquitoes, domestic animals, and residents and are urging people to use insect repellent and take precautions to reduce mosquito bites.📲

LAPD investigated an officer-involved shooting after a man reportedly attempted to kidnap a person near a Wingstop, according to the department’s public information officer.

Police had initially received reports of a man with a gun who allegedly pointed the weapon at someone’s head. Shots were reportedly fired as officers responded to the scene.

A shooting outside an LDS church in Utah left one person dead and two others critically injured, according to police.

Officers were at the church after attendees requested a police presence due to concerns that there “could be a problem.” Around 11:25 a.m., shots were fired outside the building. Officers found one critically injured victim in the road who was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

A second critically injured victim was located inside a vehicle after police pursued it when the occupants initially failed to stop. A third victim was also found critically injured at the church and transported for treatment.

Police said a large crowd and fight were reported at the scene, with additional officers and sheriff’s deputies responding. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and looking into possible gang involvement.

Authorities said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and people at the church were directed to remain inside for safety. The investigation remains ongoing. 📲

Luigi Mangione, 28, pleaded guilty Friday to federal charges of stalking resulting in death in connection with the December 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan.

During the hearing, Mangione admitted to shooting the 50-year-old executive and said he 3D-printed the gun used in the killing and attached a silencer, according to reports.

The two federal charges carry a potential life sentence. Mangione’s sentencing is scheduled for December 18.

His guilty plea could also affect the separate state case against him, with his attorneys potentially raising double-jeopardy arguments.

19 Million Eggs Recalled Over Salmonella Risk ⚠️

Midwest Poultry Services has voluntarily recalled approximately 19 million eggs due to possible contamination with Salmonella Enteritidis, according to the FDA.

The eggs were produced at two Texas farms between June 6 and July 3, 2026, and sold at Kroger and Brookshire Grocery stores across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Mississippi. No illnesses have been reported.

Check your carton: Recalled eggs may carry carton code P-1950 or 0840962 with Julian dates 157–184 and sell-by/best-by dates ranging from July 20 to August 17, 2026. Brands include Kroger, Simple Truth, Brookshire’s, Country Morning, and Sunups.

The FDA has classified the recall as Class I, its highest risk category, meaning exposure to the affected product could potentially cause serious health consequences or death.
Do not eat recalled eggs. Return them to the store for a full refund.

A large amount of foam and bubbles was seen flowing from the Rainbow Pool at the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., Thursday afternoon, with graffiti also reportedly visible at the site.

The National Park Service is asking visitors to stay out of the pool while the substance remains unidentified. It’s unclear who may be responsible or whether the incident is connected to the graffiti.

National Guard personnel were also seen at the memorial as part of ongoing presence patrols across the National Mall, though it’s unclear if their presence is related to the incident.

The memorial honors the 16 million Americans who served in World War II, including more than 400,000 who died.
