I read a comment today that said line dancing isn’t “real” dancing…
and that people with no rhythm shouldn’t dance.
And it made me pause.
Not because it bothered me —
but because it reminded me how differently people define what dance is.
That’s not what dancing means to me.
To me, dancing isn’t about perfection.
It isn’t about training.
It isn’t about whether you were born with rhythm.
Dancing is showing up anyway.
It’s trying something new even when you feel awkward.
It’s laughing when you mess up.
It’s moving your body without asking for permission.
It’s community. It’s courage. It’s joy.
I’ve seen moms who swore they “couldn’t dance” find confidence.
I’ve seen people walk in shy and walk out glowing.
I’ve seen beginners become leaders.
So now I’m curious —
What does being a dancer mean to you?
Because I have a feeling it’s bigger than steps and counts. 💃🕺
