New Member Highlights:
Hi, My name is Hadyn Ausdemore
This is my first year with the barn. I like to spend time with all of the animals that I have at my house and at the barn. I love hanging out with my show steers. What I like to do in my free time is help my dad and grandpa farm and show cattle. Over the summer I went to our local country fair and State Fair. At our Country Fair, I got grand champion lightweight Market steer. At the state fair I got the reverse champion of bread and owned it. I also got four in my class. I like having the barn in my schedule knowing that when we have farm safety day it will be clean. Also it will be clean when people drive by. I’m looking forward to making the barn look nice on the inside and outside.
Hi, my name is Talan VanArsdol and here's a little about me and why I chose to join the barn.
I grew up farming my whole 16 years with our family farm. When I heard that they were giving out options to join the barn I knew that I had to sign up. So at the beginning of the year I signed up and I qualified for it. Now I’m learning quite a bit just these couple of weeks since I’ve been part of this barn team. We have an adventure everyday just like our farm. We get to have hands-on experiences, like recently we got our pigs, goats and calf vaccinated and got to watch it all happen! Another is we also get to have assignments too. It's not just cleaning up the barn and messing with animals, we get to learn how to read feed tags and have our own opinion on things we would like to change or have better experiences with. It is a good learning curve everyday and practices to use our voice on our opinion. Finally as we’re coming to an end I wanted to say thank you to my fellow barn members for inviting me into this great team and wish for the best the rest of the year.

Baby Piglets are HERE!
Hi, I am Tucker Olsen, the Finance and Marketing Manager for the Tri-Center Livestock Production Facility. Currently at the Facility, we have one sow, who went into labor last night. She is now a proud mama of nine new baby piglets! We purchased the sow from Cody Lambrecht in Nebraska. This is her sixth litter of piglets. Our intentions after she farrows are to keep back some piglets and sell the rest. She averages around 13 piglets per litter. We would like to keep four to feed out and sell as market hogs, and sell the rest of the piglets soon after weaning. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or would like to donate to our facility. Please contact me at 402-670-9922. Thank You!!

Chicken Noodle Soup Fundraiser Recap
By Maura Jenson
On Sunday, March 23rd, the Tri-Center Livestock Production Facility hosted a Chicken Noodle Soup Fundraiser, which was held at the Minden Legion. The facility management team partnered with the Minden Legion to make the event possible and run smoothly. The soup was made with leftover chicken from the most recent batch of broilers and prepared by the facility management team. Each team member made a dessert to serve along with the donation of some Texas sheet cakes. The event was a free will donation and raised $1,500 which the facility is planning to use towards new permanent pens for their animals. Thank you to everyone who came to support the Livestock Production Facility. Your support helps to further our education within the production facility. We would also like to give a huge thank you to Minden Smokehouse Catering for their donation of spoons and bowls, Lyle and Denise Olsen for their donation of the Texas sheet cakes, the Minden Legion for helping prepare the soup for the event and allowing us to use the facility, and AusCorp for donating everything else that was needed.

Chicken Coop
By Kayleigh Crozier
We have recently been in search of a chicken coop, so that we can start our own layers. Joanna found a listing for a starter chicken coop on Facebook Marketplace. She got ahold of Stephanie Witt to purchase the coop. Stephanie decided to donate it to the barn facility. We are grateful for this donation, and are very excited to get some layers!!!

SAEs at the Barn
While in FFA, you are expected to do a ā€œsupervised agriculture experienceā€ called an SAE. This experience allows you to keep records and manage something you enjoy. This can be anything that is an agricultural field or even where you work! Having the barn at Tri-Center provides these students with great opportunities to raise livestock, since their lives don’t allow it. Currently, Addison and Joanna are the only members who keep their SAE projects at the barn.
My name is Joanna Cook, and I am the goat manager at the barn. As a goat manager, I am in charge of making sure the goats have the proper feed and vaccinations. I am also in charge of making all final decisions regarding selling and reproducing. I am fortunate enough to get to keep my own goats at the barn as well. This past year, I raised a meat goat to sell at Westfair. I had to ensure the goat wasn’t getting too much or too little feed, and it was building muscle. This year, I am raising a meat goat and a breeding doe. I plan to raise my meat goat the same way I have in the past. My plan with the doe is to show her at Westfair and breed her later in the year. With her offspring, I plan to raise them so they can be shown in the upcoming years. I am excited to start my own production and hope it can continue for years to come!

My name is Addison Zacharias and I am the chicken manager at the barn. I also keep my own chickens at the barn. Last year, I decided I wanted to raise chickens for my SAE. I don’t have the space at home so I get to keep them at the barn. I work hard to keep my space clean and make sure my chickens are healthy among the other animals. I raised my first chickens last spring. I started with 12 and ended with 10. This year I started with 20 and still have 20. I am taking them to Duncan’s on May 15. I have learned a lot about raising chickens that I can apply to the barn and my own chickens.
