Yet another amazing ministry partnership with Muskox Ministries! SEEN International’s Volunteer Pilot Phillip Kinard working with Muskox Ministries and True North Church. All with Christ Jesus showing the Way!
On this overnight training mission, Pilot Phillip K. honed his skills in the Alaskan Brooks Range with a trainer in the right seat and a new pilot in the back as they flew a Muskox Ministries Cessna U206 over 700 miles across vast expanses of roadless wilderness. The team stopped at seven locations during the mission including Bettles, Brooks Range Bible Camp, Deadhorse, Anaktuvuk Pass, Chandalar Lake, Coldfoot, and spent an overnight in the village of Nuiqsut.
Despite beautiful weather, the pilots practiced navigating mountain passes as if the weather was much worse, simulating poor visibility and low cloud ceilings. They practiced landing off-airport and working through scenarios involving the brutal wind, icing, and fog often found on the north slope.
No trip to the bush is ever without a ministry component, and our pilots enjoyed connecting and praying with friends during their overnight in Nuiqsut, after helping process some fresh caribou meat!
Just a couple weeks later, Phillip found himself back on the north slope supporting True North Church on a trip to serve the people of Nuiqsut and conduct some repairs on the church there. Constant training and practice is necessary to maintain proficiency as a bush pilot, and to remain sharp in the rugged and desolate flying environment called Alaska.
Our pilots fly in some of the most demanding, unforgiving, and remote environments imaginable - serving missionaries in places most people can't find on a map. We require a high level of skill and experience to be able to take on the responsibilities of a Muskox Ministries bush pilot.
