Get to Know SEEN International...

For more than 25 years, Dan and Heide - the founders of SEEN - have faithfully answered the call to seek the un-seen.

Together, they've led more than 8,000 volunteers into some of the most remote and isolated regions of Central America.

And now, they're answering their calling in Alaska.

Bringing Hope, Life, and the unconditional Love of Jesus to those who need it most.

The UTTERMOST is never too far when ETERNITY is at stake!

Helping the unseen be SEEN…that they might have LIFE.

This is what ministry in remote areas Alaska looks like.

Our volunteer pilot, Phillip, is pictured with a plane packed with materials headed to help with rehabilitation work on a church.

In many parts of Alaska, you cannot simply load up a truck, drive to the nearest hardware store, and make another trip if you forget something.

Roads often end long before the need does.

Every bucket, board, tool, and supply has to make the journey with you.

That is why aviation is such a valuable part of SEEN International’s ministry.

An airplane is more than transportation—it creates access.

It allows people and resources to reach places that would otherwise be difficult, costly, or sometimes nearly impossible to serve consistently.

And when access becomes possible, so does the opportunity to strengthen churches, encourage those serving there, meet practical needs, and build lasting relationships.

This is the heart behind SEEN: going where the need is, serving alongside those already there, and helping ensure that people in isolated communities know they have not been forgotten.

Sometimes that looks like sharing the Gospel.

Sometimes it looks like carrying construction supplies into a remote village.

Often, it looks like both—because serving people well can begin long before the first word is spoken.

In Alaska, consistency is everything.

Villages are accustomed to people arriving once, making promises, and never returning.

Real ministry happens when relationships are built over time and when people know they can count on you to come back.

Last Frontier Ministries is committed to bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to some of the most remote and spiritually underserved communities in Alaska.

Through village ministry, discipleship training, church partnerships, and youth outreach, our mission has always been to reach people who are most often left unseen.

Our partnership with Dan (pictured) & Heidi Smith and SEEN International is playing a significant role in helping make this possible.

SEEN has created an incredibly effective ministry partnership, allowing us to access villages more frequently, respond to opportunities more quickly, and maintain the strongest ministry presence possible.

Even in the winter months!

There have been multiple occasions where SEEN has made last-minute flights in response to tragedies within the communities we serve.

In those moments, having immediate access to aviation has allowed us to be present when it mattered most—bringing God’s presence, prayer, and the hope of Christ Jesus into these situations was critical.

That kind of responsiveness is invaluable in Alaska, in ministry, and for eternity!

Yet another amazing ministry partnership with Muskox Ministries! SEEN International’s Volunteer Pilot Phillip Kinard working with Muskox Ministries and True North Church. All with Christ Jesus showing the Way!

On this overnight training mission, Pilot Phillip K. honed his skills in the Alaskan Brooks Range with a trainer in the right seat and a new pilot in the back as they flew a Muskox Ministries Cessna U206 over 700 miles across vast expanses of roadless wilderness. The team stopped at seven locations during the mission including Bettles, Brooks Range Bible Camp, Deadhorse, Anaktuvuk Pass, Chandalar Lake, Coldfoot, and spent an overnight in the village of Nuiqsut.
Despite beautiful weather, the pilots practiced navigating mountain passes as if the weather was much worse, simulating poor visibility and low cloud ceilings. They practiced landing off-airport and working through scenarios involving the brutal wind, icing, and fog often found on the north slope.

No trip to the bush is ever without a ministry component, and our pilots enjoyed connecting and praying with friends during their overnight in Nuiqsut, after helping process some fresh caribou meat!

Just a couple weeks later, Phillip found himself back on the north slope supporting True North Church on a trip to serve the people of Nuiqsut and conduct some repairs on the church there. Constant training and practice is necessary to maintain proficiency as a bush pilot, and to remain sharp in the rugged and desolate flying environment called Alaska.

Our pilots fly in some of the most demanding, unforgiving, and remote environments imaginable - serving missionaries in places most people can't find on a map. We require a high level of skill and experience to be able to take on the responsibilities of a Muskox Ministries bush pilot.

As we near completion of our SEEN International Alaska Campus, we wanted to give you an update on all the amazing progress being made.

This Campus will become a launching point for mission teams serving isolated villages, children's camps, local churches, and ministry partners throughout Alaska. A place from which people will go out to build relationships, serve critical needs, strengthen ministries, and share the Gospel.

It will also become home base for SEEN’s Wilderness Retreats and Adventure Trips—using the incredible wilderness God created to remove (for a time) the noise of life and draw closer to HIM.

At our heart is a simple calling and desire: that people would fall in love with Christ Jesus, for the first time—or all over again!

And we're getting close!

Electrical is complete!

Water is connected!

Walls are painted!

Bathrooms are ready! (Well...almost!)

Trim is up!

Doors are on!

But before we can begin welcoming the people who will go out from here to make an eternal difference across Alaska, we still have some important things to finish:

• Flooring
• Beds & furnishings
• Kitchen repairs & appliances
• Water heaters
• Septic system (that's the "well...almost" part on those bathrooms!)
• Siding repairs
• Devotion deck

This isn't simply about finishing a building.

It's about what will happen because the building is finished.

And that's where you can become part of the story.

Whether through prayer, giving, coming to serve, or helping provide one of the remaining needs, we'd love to have you join us in fulfilling Christ's calling to reach, care for, and love those He longs to hold for all Eternity!

Send us a DM if you'd like to learn more, get involved, visit, support, etc. 🙂

My relationship with—and love for—Camp Nahshii and their heart for saving young people began in 2022.

By the end of that first summer, I had led more than 40 volunteers into this remote, Christ-centered su***de prevention camp, helping revitalize the property and prepare it for even greater impact in the hearts and lives of the young people God would bring there.

Please pray for SEEN International, for Heidi and me, and for Camp Nahshii as we continue partnering together in what Christ is doing among young people who desperately need to know that they are SEEN, Loved, Valued, and never-ever beyond Hope.

Stay tuned 😁

Camp Nahshii exists to bring hope, healing, discipleship, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people throughout the Yukon Flats Region.

The name “Nahshii” means “a place of healing,” and that mission is lived out through Christ-centered youth camps focused on su***de prevention, identity in Christ, and restoring hope in the next generation.

The reality in many remote Alaska communities is sobering.

Su***de rates in rural and northern regions of Alaska are among the highest in the world, particularly among young people in isolated villages

This is not abstract to us—we see it firsthand in the lives of the young people who come carrying deep hurt, loss, abuse and hopelessness.

Operating a remote camp on the Yukon River presents significant logistical challenges.

Everything required to serve these young people—staff, volunteers, food, fuel, equipment, and ministry resources—must be transported into a location that is extremely difficult to access.

Through the partnership with SEEN, we are not only able to operate—we are able to reach young people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

Lives are being impacted in a very real and immediate way, as young people encounter
Hope, purpose, and Truth. Our partnership is contributing to the saving of lives here on earth, and through eternity in Christ Jesus.

We are grateful for the partnership we have with This Generation Ministries and the kind words from their Founder and President, Ronald Pratt 🙏

This is what a trip to the grocery sometimes looks like in Alaska 🙂

This particular run was for Camp Nahshii - This Generation Ministries

Our volunteer pilot, Phillip, met with Muskox Ministries to make this happen.

And THESE trips are of NO COST to Camp Nahshii, or any of our partner ministries…they are all in Faith believing that Christ Jesus has us covered.

And HE Does!

We are so grateful for the partnerships God has been thus far 🙏

A special shout out to Covenant Aero for providing the aircraft, flight training, prayer, and so much more!
