My name is Kev Coleman and I founded KC Lessons in order to create an easy and convenient way to teach guitar and music theory to everyone no matter the location. By offering both in person and online lessons, at an affordable price, I am looking to gain more students of all ages, skill levels, and personal styles. I always had a love for music, but I started playing guitar at the age of 12 (now 3

1). Being entirely self taught, I would continue to play and improve throughout high school. I then began performing around the Houston, TX area and started gaining some live performing experience. After performing for a while I was still not satisfied with my guitar skills. So I swallowed my silly pride of being "self-taught", and decided to reach out for education. That would turn out to be the best decision for my music career. I began taking private lessons from Neoclassical guitar virtuoso Matthew Mills. Matt was voted top 50 fastest guitarists of all time in July 2008 issue of Guitar World magazine (page 83). Matt has opened for famous guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen, George Lynch, Joe Stump, and Michael Angelo Batio. Matt is also endorsed by Schecter Guitar Research, and has toured worldwide while also releasing multiple albums. In Matt's extensive teaching career, he would also teach famous guitarist Jason Richardson of "Born of Osiris", "Chelsea Grin", and now "All That Remains". With my 20 years of experience, and Matt's amazing education on guitar and music theory, I wish to turn around and deliver it all to you at an affordable price and convenient schedule. Meet Ben!

Ben has been a student of KCGA for a little over 3 years now. Ben never touched a guitar before starting with us. He is a sophomore in high school and is a big fan of Blues music. In this video, Ben is showcasing his improvisation skills. I teach all my students the importance of improvisation. With time and practice, anyone can play a pre-written piece of music. However, it's a completely different story when you have to create music from thin air on the spot! It takes a lot of knowledge of keys, music theory, scales, chord progressions, and how to add expression to the notes you play in order to do this. Every note Ben plays in this video is unscripted, and in the moment. Great job Ben! You are a great example of what can be achieved with practice, and a student mentality.

Happy New Year! KCGA has grown so much this past year thanks to all of our loyal students. When I first started this company I only had a handful of students, but this past year we have grown to over 20 students! Thank you all for trusting me with your music education! I love all of you!
