Southwest Mississippi Academic Leadership Conference Free Registration for the Southwest Mississippi Academic Leadership Conference is open to rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders until July 1st, 2017.

Good Morning ☀️☀️! SMALC is tomorrow, and conference coordinators are excited to welcome you! We are pleased to introduce to you our keynote speaker!

Keynote Address: Mr. Zackeus Johnson

Zackeus D. Johnson, an energetic, motivated, and multi-talented, friendly Alcornite was born and raised in Liberty, MS. His parents are Monica Z. Johnson and Johnnie W. Scott.

At Alcorn State University, Mr. Johnson held a plethora of leadership positions such as the President for the University’s Student Ambassadors, Junior Class President 2013-14 and Student Government Association President for the 2014-15 academic school years. The leadership positions listed has equipped Zack for his professional journey.

Mr. Johnson is also a spring 2014 initiate into the Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. He is also an active member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Derrick T. Williams.

Volunteer and service is what he enjoys doing the most. Mr. Johnson was a USDA 1890 Scholar. This scholarship paid for his education during his tenure at Alcorn State University and provided him internships in Washington, D.C. He played and still plays a vital role in the lives of young men and women at Alcorn State University, Southern University and A&M College and within his community. He has a desire for all young adults to attend a college of their choice and have a powerful “why” while being a “peak” performer.

Zackeus graduated from Alcorn State University, with honors, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business Management. He is a recent graduate of Southern University and A&M College with his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He is now an Academic Advisor and Freshman Seminar Instructor in the Department of CUSA at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Zack has been accepted into the Ph.D Program in Educational Leadership & Research with a cognate in Higher Education at Louisiana State University. He will begin this August.

Good morning! We are less than 2 DAYS from the conference. We are pleased to announce another SMALC speaker!

Speaker: Jenedria Price
Topic: College 101

Jenedria Price is a native of Woodville Mississippi. She graduated from Wilkinson County High School in 2015 as the Salutatorian, and reign as Miss Wilkinson County High School for the 2014-2015 school year. During her time at WCHS, she was an active member in several organizations such as 4-H Club, Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, National Technical Honors Society, and Beta Club. Currently, she is a junior at Alcorn State University pursuing a major in Elementary Education with a concentration in History. While on Alcorn’s campus, Jenedria stays very active as a research student and teacher assistant for Alcorn State University’s Saturday Science Academy Outreach Program. She also participates in several organizations including Active Minds, Spark, Alcorn’s Honor Society, and POWER, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Recently, she, along with her team from Active Minds and Spark, was invited to represent Alcorn State University at the Lonnie E. Mitchell Behavioral Academy, which was held in Nashville, Tennessee. Weeks after, she was chosen to represent Alcorn State University at Rotunda, where she, along with three other scholars, traveled to the state capitol to represent Alcorn by presenting posters on topics such as mental health, chemistry, engineering solutions, and anatomy. Jenedria truly lives by the following quote and scripture and would like to share them with all she comes in contact with
