We’re excited to be at the Bellevue Community Picnic this Saturday!

Come stop by The Gate School table to say hello, grab a free Gate School t-shirt while supplies last, and hear more about our vision for a public middle school where students are challenged, supported, and prepared to thrive in high school and beyond.

We’d love to meet Bellevue families and connect with the community.

When a student stands up at the MNPS Board meeting and tells the room what great teaching means to her, you stop and listen.

Thank you, Emily. You said it better than any of us could.

Confidence isn’t built by watching.
It’s built by doing.

Last week, students stepped into the work with Nashville Children's Theatrechildrenstheatre —using their voice, their body, and their imagination.

They spoke in front of others, tried new things, and adjusted in the moment.

At The Gate School, students are challenged and supported to think, speak, and grow.

Because confidence doesn’t come from getting it right the first time.
It comes from working through something until you do.

The Gate School is being built by people who have already delivered results.

One founder has led students to extraordinary academic growth.
The other has built and led one of Nashville’s highest-performing charter schools.

But this isn’t just about results.

It’s about building a school where students are pushed to think deeply, communicate clearly, and do hard things well.

Because every student is capable of excellence, and great teaching is what unlocks it.

We believe students grow in confidence, independence, and communication when they’re given real opportunities to think, speak, and perform.

That kind of growth doesn’t just happen during the school day. It has to be built intentionally, inside and outside the classroom.

We’re hosting a free acting workshop for 3rd and 4th graders with Nashville Children’s Theatre to do exactly that.

What if summer camp helped your child become a better thinker?

This June, The Gate School is hosting a FREE Thinking & Discovery Camp for rising 4th and 5th graders.

Students will tackle big questions, run real experiments, and learn how to defend their ideas with evidence.

It’s hands-on, high-energy, and designed to spark curiosity.

Great schools start with great teaching.

At The Gate School, outstanding teaching is the foundation of everything we do.

Most schools gradually pull their strongest educators away from the classroom and into roles that spend less and less time with students.

We are designing a school that does the opposite.

Through our Teaching Firm model, every adult in the building teaches students each day. School leaders, instructional leaders, and teachers all stay directly connected to the classroom.

Because when great educators spend their time with students, everyone benefits.

Middle school is where too many students lose momentum.

In MNPS, proficiency drops when students leave elementary school:
• ELA: 35.1% → 26.9%
• Math: 36.6% → 29.1%

This isn’t about ability.
It’s about design.

Middle school should be a turning point for acceleration!

That’s why we’re building The Gate School differently.

Big question: How do we actually know something is true?

This summer, your child won’t just learn answers. They’ll learn how to think.

At The Gate School Summer Camp, rising 4th and 5th graders will:
🧠 Take on big, mind-bending questions
🧪 Run real experiments to test their ideas
🎯 Jump into fast-paced thinking challenges
🗣️ Defend their thinking with evidence (and change their minds when needed)

This is not a typical camp.
It’s a week built to stretch how kids think.

We hosted a one-day AI learning experience built around curiosity and confidence.

Students learned that AI doesn’t “know” things on its own.
It learns from humans, makes mistakes, and improves with practice.

They built first without AI, then used AI as a tool to improve their work.
They trained simple models and tested what worked and what didn’t.

This is the kind of learning we’re excited to keep creating.
