MSW students Gabe DeGraeve and Monica Bennett were named winners of the Tennessee National Association of Social Workers Day on the Hill Policy Analysis Contest. Their work focused on a current bill before the TN General Assembly addressing the impacts of period poverty.

Belmont alumna Sydnee Floyd came to Belmont as an honors student determined to keep her long-term nonprofit project, Jumbled Dreams, afloat while pursuing her degree. Years later, that determination — paired with close faculty mentorship in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences — has resulted in a donation of 9,000 pairs of socks to Belmont’s Flourish mobile clinic, serving Nashville’s most vulnerable neighbors.

Today was a powerful reminder that advocacy starts early. Dr. Lindsay Ison led the DPT 2nd Year cohort’s Day on the Hill, where students stepped into the policy arena with confidence and purpose. Joined by Dr. Suzanne Greenwalt and Dr. Gary Austin, the group met with Senator Bo Watson and APTA-TN leadership to share the voice of the profession. The students represented the School of Physical Therapy, the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, and Belmont University with professionalism, passion, and pride—showcasing the future of physical therapy in action.
