We partnered with the Islamic Center of Nashville for a workshop with our Conference of the Birds cast, led by Rou'a Mohammed, President of the Belmont Muslim Student Association.

This show is adapted from a 12th century Sufi poem. As we move into tech week, we wanted to connect our students to the root of Sufism, which is Islam.

Partnering with ICN meant our students could learn about a culture and a faith practice from someone speaking from her own experience. Rou'a spoke about Islamic teachings and practices as they're lived today, not as history, but as a modern framework.

It's about giving space and a voice to a part of the world with such a rich history, one that isn't often taught or given space in American culture.

So grateful to Rou'a for being willing to be vulnerable, answer questions, and share her faith and practice with our community. It was a true gift.
