Civil Engineering is the profession that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, and railways.
Civil Engineering have five major subject areas: Structural Engineering; Geotechnical Engineering; Transportation Engineering; Environmental Engineering; and Water Resources Engineering
Architectural Engineering is the profession that offers and integrated multi-disciplinary approach to planning, design, construction, and operation of buildings.
Civil engineers and architectural engineers are working at the cutting edge of research and development in such diverse fields as building earthquake-resistant structures, designing energy-harvest small buildings, developing innovative resilient infrastructure, cleaning and protecting air and water, and striving to improve the quality of life. They can work in industry, government, research laboratories, and academia. The long-term outlook for employment of civil engineers and architectural engineers appears to be excellent, both regionally and through the country. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that job opportunities in civil and architectural engineering will increase by 20 percent in next decades, much faster than the average for all occupations.
