A rare project where I was able to take it from rough lumber and full sheets and see it through installation.

Hey,
I’m Jeff. I work for the greatest boss on earth and sometimes he lets me do cool stuff with wood, while working along side some of the best wood jockeys Nashvilles got.

I have not posted much. Mostly reels so far through this recent project. We are building a 16’x30’ hemlock pool house timber arbor.

These guys are the true stars of the show. Steve, Alberto, and Andy cut, routed, carved, and sanded the whole package. I was too busy chasing the next step trying to keep pace with these rockstars. I ran around making jigs, setting up tools, researching glue, ordering so many router bits, (8 router set ups with 4 custom base plates) but mostly I looked like a puppy chasing its tail most of the time. We bought huge tools, we found cool ways to use old tools and “With ripped knickers, we pressed on to victory”~

🧩There are too many details to list. I will have future posts about each of the details we with pics and vids of the milling process.

🥲 unfortunately we will not be able to share any content from this, truly spectacular, install. The sight is so picturesque and I feel like 4 months building this structure is not enough time spent…To respect the privacy of the lovely family that owns the estate we will not be taking any photos or videos on-site.

😃The hope, instead, is to show you more about how we made each of the parts for the structure. It is an identical replica of the original with slight sizing modifications and 100% more copper flashing. This one will last much longer than the 20 years the original did.
