Meharry Medical College celebrates 150 years The college has produced more than 8,000 medical professionals, and it continues its mission to serve underserved communities through high standards of excellence and compassionate action.

As part of Meharry Medical College’s 150th anniversary celebration, the college honored the legacy of Dr. Lloyd C. Elam with a historical marker unveiling at the Lloyd C. Elam Mental Health Center.

A well-deserved tribute to a transformational leader whose impact on healthcare, education, and underserved communities continues today.

565 newly minted Meharrians crossed the stage at the Grand Ole Opry House during Meharry Medical College’s 2026 Commencement on Saturday, May 16, 2026— the largest graduating class in the institution’s history. As Meharry celebrates 150 years of advancing health equity and transforming communities, the Class of 2026 now carries that legacy forward as physicians, dentists, researchers, public health leaders and data scientists prepared to serve communities nationwide.
