After an unforgettable week of music, growth, and friendship, Orchestra Tikvah is ready for our Final Concert, and you won’t want to miss it!

Today, our musicians had the incredible opportunity to perform at the Gordon JCC’s TGIT Lunch Program, bringing music, energy, and a little Orchestra Tikvah magic to the community.

And because every great musician knows inspiration comes from listening too, we wrapped up the day with a visit to the legendary Station Inn to experience the sounds of true Nashville bluegrass. From classical strings to fiddles and folk traditions, our students are discovering that music has endless ways to connect people!

Today our musicians had the incredible opportunity to Zoom with renowned composer Jonathan Leshnoff, who coached them on his beautiful Four Dances for String Quartet, Movement II: Pavan.

Hearing directly from a world-class composer was inspiring enough, but hearing how his Orthodox Jewish faith shapes his music made it even more meaningful. It reminded our students that their Judaism isn't something separate from their artistry... it can be the very thing that inspires it.

Today was a full day of orchestra rehearsals, sectionals, and individual practice, and the music is really coming to life!

Here's a sneak peek at our students rehearsing the first movement of Felix Mendelssohn's Sinfonia No. 1, a work he composed when he was just 12 years old.

For generations, people tried to separate Mendelssohn from his Jewish roots, but his music tells a different story. His lifelong engagement with the Torah, and his setting of Psalm texts remind us that his Jewish heritage remained an important part of his artistic voice.

And that is exactly what Orchestra Tikvah is all about!! We believe our Jewish identity is something that enriches our creativity, strengthens our community, and makes our music even more meaningful.

We're having an incredible week, and we can't wait to share more with you. Stay tuned!

Salamone Rossi was a trailblazer...a 16th-century Jewish composer who refused to separate his Jewish identity from his music. At a time when that wasn't easy, he showed the world that Jewish tradition and artistic excellence could flourish together.

Watching our Orchestra Tikvah musicians bring his music to life during rehearsal today was something special! By celebrating Jewish composers like Rossi, we're helping the next generation discover that their Judaism isn't separate from their artistry, it's part of what makes their music meaningful.

Orchestra Tikvah is about more than making music, it's about building friendships, celebrating our Jewish identity, and creating memories that last long after the final note!

Between today's rehearsals, our musicians cooled off with ice cream, hit the basketball court, and simply enjoyed being together.

Because the best ensembles aren't just built in rehearsal... they're built in moments like these.
