Our student and staff have been enjoying our Nashville Reads book. Here is a link to some Special Readers:
Good Evening Cardinal Parents,
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will take their NC Check in assessments for math, reading and science this week starting tomorrow. These tests are closely aligned with the EOG tests they will take at the end of the year. Our teachers will get valuable information from the tests to help them know where students are doing well and where they need extra support.
Congratulations to Lily and Adeline who represented our school in an amazing way in this year's district spelling bee. They both finished in the top ten and Adeline came in second place overall. Both girls performed brilliantly in such a high pressure event. We are all very proud of them.
Our 5th graders are leading a fundraiser for discount cards for local businesses. We hope you will support them in selling them within our community.
Our next PTA meeting is Thursday February 22nd. We will have our boys and girls basketball teams play against parents and staff for a fun family event. Our cheer team will also be there to cheer on our players. We hope you will join us for an evening of fun.
We have four days of school this week and look forward to making each one a great one.
Thank you for continued your support or our students, staff and school community.

Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians:
Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) will conduct an important Mass Communication Test on Friday, February 9, 2024. This test aims to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our communication systems, ensuring that we can reach all members of our school community promptly in critical situations.
This test will involve each school in our district. For parents and guardians with contact information linked to their child's school records, please anticipate receiving notifications via text messages, voice calls, and emails.
This initiative is crucial for confirming that our lines of communication are fully operational and that you are kept informed about your child's safety and school events.
If your email or phone number fails during our test, please be advised that your child's school will attempt to contact you through alternative means. This may include sending a letter home with your child or employing another communication method over the following four weeks.
We also want to remind you of the importance of keeping your contact information current in our system. You can review and update your child's details anytime through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, or contact your child's school. It is not uncommon for contact information to be incorrect by just a single digit, yet accurate details are crucial for ensuring that we can reach all parents and guardians effectively.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the well-being of our students and the broader school community.
Thank you,
Nash County Public Schools

Good Evening Cardinal Parents,
This is a 4 day work week for our students as this Friday February 9th is a teacher workday. Next Monday February 12 is a teacher workday as well so there is no school for students on the 9th or the 12th.
We are working our way through the third nine weeks and will be closing in on the end of the school year before we know it. Please be sure to stay connected with your child's teacher regarding their progress in class. This summer there will only be a summer school opportunity for 2nd and 3rd grade students so we want to be sure all our students are making the most of their time in class now in order to meet the NCPS promotion standards.
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be taking their next round of NC Checkins assessments next week February 13th-16th. These tests are closely aligned with the EOG tests the students will take at the end of the school year so they are a good measure for us to see how our students are performing. We have a competition between grade levels to see who will win the trophy for the highest scores on the checkins. Our 5th graders hold the trophy after the fall assessments so we look forward to see if they will hold on to the trophy or if 3rd or 4th grade will make it happen this time around.
We look forward to a great week at school and thank you for all you do to help us help our students.
Good night.
Good Evening Cardinal Parents,
We are excited to announce that NES will be performing Wonka, the play this year in April. Auditions will be open to 3rd-5th grade students and will be this Tuesday at 6:00PM in our gym. Any 3rd-5th grade student who would like to audition should report to the gym at 6:00PM. There will be a team of people at school to assist with auditions and judging for characters. If you have any questions regarding the play please contact Lori Mizelle our music teacher.
We will hold our 5th grade awards day program on Wednesday morning at 8:10 in the gym. This is a make up day for their awards as we missed 5th grade on the 17th due to the weather delay.
We will be practicing our safety drills this week which will include a lockdown practice drill as well as our monthly fire drill.
Friday February 9th and Monday February 12th are teacher workdays so there will be no school for students on those two days. Please be sure to make arrangements for your child on those days.
We look forward to a great week at school and thank you for all you do to support our students.
Good Night.
