“Can’t Stop Don’t Stop Won’t Stop” By Ft.

Written By

High Hyena is a House music duo consisting of Dean Robinson and Aaron De Luca. Inspired by the spirited House bangers of the 90s, these two are determined to create music that resonates with people - leaving their music open to interpretation. With production experience at the forefront of everything this duo does, they use nostalgia as their secret ingredient, hoping to create warm meaningful memories or flashbacks to old ones. High Hyena can best be described as a journey through unique soundscapes.

“Invader” by Deepest Cold Consortium, ft. People Of The Parallel and Diamond Lounge

Written By Cans Headphones

“Invader” is a thoughtful, chaotic, and professionally executed production that builds on itself without being repetitive. Deepest Cold Consortium, People of the Parallel, and Diamond Lounge have executed their goal to create an invasion of the sonic sense. The song bears down on the listener while providing a varied and unique listening experience. The abrupt shift from chaotic and sudden assault to quiet and uncertainty creates the perfect environment for replay-ability. Not only that, the whole production is a complete masterclass in how to create a chaotic constitution.

“Run Away” by Charley Young ft. Fonz Tramontano

Written By Can's Headphones

Charley Young is no newcomer to the pop music genre. She’s consistently pushing norms to new lengths and smashing glass ceilings. While Charley is fairly comfortable within the pop genre, it hasn’t kept her from bending her sound to tap into other genre practices that keep her music fresh. With a strong catalog representing synth-pop, and alternative music, Charley has found a way to stand out among the dense noise of indie musicians.

“Run Away” is a massive production with no holds barred. While Charley is known for her intense and thoughtful songwriting and lyricism, she knows where her productions could use a dash of additional professional flair. Enter Fonz Tramontano, a respected and well-versed EDM/House producer. When you mash Charley’s style of pop music and vocalizations with the prowess that a veteran producer like Fonz possesses you get a powerhouse of retro vibes and alluring composition.

“Saturn Rising” by Diamond Lounge ft. People of the Parallel

Written By Can's Headphones

When it comes to electronic pop, I couldn’t think of a more fitting duo to tackle the project. These indie artists possess an intense level of talent and production expertise, something that becomes obvious when going through their previous songs. “Saturn Rising” is a perfect example of the work these two indie artists are capable of and the prowess they possess in electronic music production.

“Facemelt” by People Of The Parallel

Written By Can's Headphones

‘Facemelt’ was “holy s*** this is hype beast music.” This is one of those songs that gives me a feeling of building anticipation and overall excellence - like I was watching a “Top 10” clip of Apex Legends arc star sticks or a Warzone montage. Not to mention, People Of The Parallel has managed to one-up himself again - both in the technical sense and in the performing sense. So let’s get into it.

‘Facemelt’ - it’s Real Good; sorry I had to do it. Seriously though; focusing on this from an exclusive production standpoint, People Of The Parallel has always tried and found success in techniques and rhythmic patterns that aren’t in the norm. In my opinion, this is what has driven People Of The Parallel to such an extraordinary level of success in the production community. Producers across the board are nervous to step outside of what is tried and true when it comes to drawing an audience. However, when you’re dabbling in played-out genres, like hip-hop and electronic music, it’s up to the up-and-coming producers to try these new techniques, sequences, and structures to drive people back into the genre.

“Made It Home” by and Jetbrake

Written By

The Made It Home EP is a refreshing combination of talent and top-tier production. It was really hard to listen to this EP without spiraling into the days where you would catch “Soak Up The Sun” on the top-100’s station on your way to work or school. In fact, I was immediately tempted to put on some board shorts and make my way to the beach. If it wasn’t for the 55-degree gusts of wind rushing about my quiet little beach town, I may have done it.

One of the things I really enjoy throughout was the electric guitar solos in each song. While being different each time, the solos seemed to have carried an overarching theme to them. That might just be my music theory nerd brain trying to pick out something that wasn’t there, but between the solos and the atmospheric twang guitar present in every song, I feel like those two reoccurring elements in each song really helped shape the thematic ambiance created in Made It Home. Wrap that up and slap Samantha T’s vocals onto there and you’ve got yourself a Vintage-Esque pop-rock EP that is as timeless as it is nostalgic.

“Don’t Care” by Diamond Lounge and People Of The Parallel

Written By Can's Headphones

Separately these are two powerhouse groups. People Of The Parallel is a one-person singer/songwriter/production wheelhouse that often finds himself on collaborations and group projects. While People Of The Parallel has released a handful of singles, it isn’t uncommon to see him running the show for a group while also dropping a verse or mix for an up-and-coming artist. Diamond Lounge essentially does the same thing, except with two people. They are oftentimes mixing and mastering for groups who dabble in the same genre as them or off creating psychedelic-funk-electronic EPs.

Looking into the musicality side of things, Diamond Lounge does a great job putting together the “beat” for People Of The Parallel - although I use the word “beat” loosely. Diamond Lounge has always had a knack for putting together professionally built soundscapes that are produced proficiently. You can take a look at their catalog and find that this is almost always the case, especially when going through their newer projects. Diamond Lounge capitalizes on all of their electro-funk experience to bring a new wave of synth-rap to fruition. With plenty of layers to give “Don’t Care” a deep and full sound, the duo also utilizes higher-pitched and shiny synths to create plenty of headspace and atmosphere for the listener to enjoy while jamming out.
If you’ve been following Diamond Lounge and People Of The Parallel for any amount of time, the fact that they are on a fantastic production isn’t really a surprise. In fact, one of the things I’ve always credited these two independent musicians with is their ability to produce on a professional level. The thing that blew my mind throughout this entire thing and multiple play-throughs was the leaps and bounds outside of the comfort zones that these artists took.

“The Christmas Song” by .estelle and

Written By

Almost like something right of a lounge on Christmas Eve, P. Wasy’s rendition captures the movement of the strings, the depth of the bass, and the calming atmosphere of the keys all in a worthy, well-rehearsed, and intricate composition. P. Wasy often finds herself collaborating with other electronic/house musicians but a quick shuffle through her Bandcamp page and you find that she also has a very unique solo pianist sound. When it comes to her composition on “The Christmas Song,” it’s very easy to tell that P. Wasy is very much in her element here.
Speaking of “in their element”, let’s talk about Clare Estelle’s vocal performance on this track. It’s not very often that I get the chance to hear Clare open up vocally the way she does on “The Christmas Song”. Usually, she feels more like she is working towards a pop vibe, which makes it really nice to hear her stretch her legs - vocally of course. Revisiting the “original versus this version” conversation, Clare uses the piano arrangement as more of a guideline for harmonics and melodic changes, which is a refreshing twist on a song that has been done a million times over and over. The two artists have almost taken the original version and used it as a framework chord structure-wise, and moved on from there. Even the piano solo is nowhere near the precedent most covers follow, and Clare Estelle does a great job accompanying what I’ll call the “piano breakdown” with comforting harmonic oooo’s.
Overall, Clare Estelle and P. Wasy did a great job adding their modern twist on a timeless Christmas classic. Christmas music gets a “re-imagining” every year, so when good renditions come through my speakers unexpectedly I am always happy to pay credit where credit is due.
